P: AMD Display Driver crashing when using the Select & Mask tool

Just updated to the latest 2015.5 version and find that after a few minutes with the new Select and Mask tool photoshop crashes my AMD Display Driver. Need then to end photoshop. Using Win 10 fully updated and the latest AMD Driver. The crash happens consistently. I haven't had time yet to discover if other features crash the driver.

Happy to report that 8 years and 7 Photoshop versions later, this is still an issue.

Using Ryzen 9 7950X integrated Radeon graphics. Photoshop and the graphics driver keep crashing each other every time Select and Mask is clicked. 💃

Guess that's never getting fixed then.

I've just been trying this no crashes so far with Open CL enabled.
Thanks to you and the team for this.
Still some work to do with the refine edge part of the tool but a big step forward !!

Unfortunately the 2017.0.1 still has S&M issues, but luckily they left the old refine edge in. Thank you adobe techs

If it doesn't work, go into PS preferences under graphics processor settings and turn off OpenCL. fixes it on most cards.

HI, I do have similar problem, lots of it I must say with select and mask , since de 2015.5 update.
I have two graphic card both have the same problem, i do work mostly with the nvidia card. (with the last update driver, etc)
my firts idea was because of the RAM I had 8g but now I upgrade it to 20g (RAM) and nothing change....

Please try out today's update (CC 2017.0.1) as there's a fix for issues with Select and Mask with AMD "Tahiti" cards.

Just installing the 2015.5.1 update. There are a number of fixes to Select and Mask but none that I see that address the AMD issue. Has anyone seen any improvement?

I just tried disabling OpenCL in PP performance preferences advanced options and that allowed me to use select and mask without the crash on my first try.. hopefully this is a reliable temporary fix.
