P: Converting layer to smart object causing major lag

Running latest version of Photoshop CC 2017, I get major bad lag with zooming and with brushes when a layer that has been converted to a smart object is visible. If I turn off the layers, the brush is buttery smooth again. Efficiency indicator will drop during this lagg.

PC: 256GB SSD (photoshop installed here) - 6600k - 16gb RAM 3000 mhz - GTX 1070.

Would you be able to share the source PSD? I can provide an email if a public link isn't possible.

File size is 671mb, 22 layers, 18 converted to smart objects with filters, 3627 x 5441, 240 resolution. The lag is still present with a few of the smart layers turned on, bad enough to the point where the mouse will lag so that I can't do anything until it passes after around 10 seconds.

Attempted to export to web as a JPEG, left it for 30 mins and wasn't completed yet.

How big is the overall file (pixel dimension, number of layers, size on disk)?
