Thank you. All of crashing started happening when I went from 2022 to 2023. I was able to find 2022 with some internet research. Not easy to find. Why can't adobe at least please keep last major version easy to download and assessable. Anyways once I went back to 2022 I have not any problems. I REALLY miss the "delete and fill"  button that is new in 2023. Hopefully there will be a fix SOON.

After struggling with this problem for months, including removing a bunch of peripherals, installing new RAM and hard drive, and trying various versions of PS going back to the 2021 versions, I finally told my IT guy to build me a whole new system. After telling him exactly what was happening, and when, he told me to hold off and try one thing before I went to that extreme. The next day, he showed up with a new power supply. I thought that was absurd, because IME, when a power supply fails, it's DEAD. But I went with it and installed it. No further problems. He said (and this was from research specific to the motherboard that I have) that the higher demands of wattage from Photoshop may have just been causing it to give up and shut down. When I removed my backup hard drive and several USB peripherals, the shutdowns became less frequent, and that was what prompted him to look into the power supply issues. I waited a week and installed the latest Photoshop, and it works perfectly.

YMMV, but it's a cheap possible solution.

Now it crashes when I use the plain old "quick selection tool." Cannot even select and mask anymore. I had to downgrade the dpi to 150 from 300 and that helped, but I just do not dare use that tool anymore. I got Black Screen of Death and corrupted system files which had to be fixed on microsoft's end. I know I only have 8 gb of ram but it used to be pretty decent.

Photoshop on version 24.0 is crashing again when using the object selection tool. I don't get how many times this issue has to come up for it to stop being a problem. So much for the "extensive improvements on the object selection tool" thank you adobe.

I have unchecked that CL button and Use Graphics processor. I say "OK" but the changes will not stick.

This still does not work for me and the latest update was supposed to have fixed it. Oh well, another thing that we have to muddle through without. Hasn't in more than a year. It's my understanding that I cannot just download anew graphics driver. (Inspiron 5482 or soemthing like that). It used to work fine. But how does one submit a crash report when the whole thing freezes and I have to CTRL + ALT + DEL to get out of it?

A recent update addressed this issue, and also improved on the tool slightly. Looks like our cries were heard 😄

Now to get that live gradient tool out of beta, and over from Affinity Designer 😄

When I use the Select object tool my whole pc crashes what do i do 😞 this also happened in another photo editing program picture director.

The entire PC crashes instantly. I have 2080ti graphics and 9900k cpu, and 32 gb ram, my system is decent. Idk how to fix.

I'm having the object selection issue with the latest version, but I don't have Nvidia graphics.  I have Intel HD Graphics 4600.  I downgraded to 22.5.7 and the problem went away.
