P: Crashes on opening image, after viewing videos on Windows media player

Photoshop crashes in this order:
Play video on Windows media player, open photoshop, open image = crash.
Error code 3 subcode 2 and / or Open GL failure.
If photoshop is already open it will not crash if videos are played second then an image is opened. Once it has crashed it will continue to crash until the system is rebooted.
Updated Win10, clean registry install of Nvidia drivers, All Adobe software updated Feb 10, 2018. Problem is now worse.

Is this post dead? Never got a response from 2 months ago. Still having the same issues... Photoshop crashes if opened after playing a video.
I have updated all software and drivers since this problem started, even switched to VLC player, makes no difference. Turning off "Use Graphics Processor" in photoshop solves the problem but creates a new one in that now i have discovered that i need many of the features associated with that. Any help appreciated.

Jeffery, still there? I just updated everything on my system - windows, adobe,autodesk and the same issue persists. I tried using a different user profile which used to solve that problem, but now videos wont play on the 2nd profile. If WMP is open in my first profile it will eventually crash photoshop regardless now of the order they were opened in. These are hard crashes - locking up my system, which will not roboot without a reset.

Jeffrey, "Use Graphics Processor" is definitely the problem. I could not make Photoshop crash with it off. When turned back on Photoshop will crash again following the steps listed in my first post.
I don't see that I need the Graphics Processor for most things I do in Photoshop, but I dont know off hand all the features that use it. But for now it works.
Its odd that this is connected to WMPlayer?

I've asked our nVidia liaison to check on this. I wasn't aware of any specific issues with the current driver.

Have you tried going to Preferences > Performance... and uncheck "Use Graphics Processor" as a workaround?

I went to Nvidia tech support, they said "its a known issue with Adobe" ? I can also give the Nvidia System Information file if needed.

Sounds like a graphics driver issue. It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help > System Info... and copy/paste the text in a reply.

Does it happen if you use Films & TV to view the videos instead of Windows Media Player? Sounds as if the problem is with Photoshop inheriting an instability left by WMP rather than with Photoshop itself.
