photoshop CS6:

1. Vector shapes tool: when trying to select, an error displays.
2. When multiple TEXT layers are selected, changing font size does not work correctly.

I'm having the same issue with transformed text and find it really troublesome.

It's especially bad when you use AppleScript or Extendscript to gather the text size and it returns the size before the transform.

This behavior in CS6 makes no sense at all.

I would also like it to be changed back to the old way. The new method feels more like a bug or error than a feature.

The Transforms are not tracked like a smart object so you can never tell how a text layer will behave unless you remember all the transforms you have done to it.

Overall the text changes in CS6 have caused me more problems than solutions.

Add me to the list of people who would really like this Transformation behavior from Text layers removed. It's quite frustrating and doesn't make much sense, and really slows down my workflow.

Thanks,

I thought 13.0.1 would fix this text issue. It didn't.

There is no way to remove this "transform before font sizing" thing in Photoshop. It's really confusing when working with multiple text lines — some with transformations on them and others without — and getting them to the same precise value.

At times, the transform tool can be used to get an "idea" of size for a text layout. Then, values can be typed in. Right now, those values are a lie. How can I know what the transform percentage is on text? It's "roughly" 430x larger than the original? If I type in 40pt for the size and get 93.68pt, what is that? Shall I get my calculator out? Oh, it's 234.2%.

See what I mean?

I am experiencing the same behavior. Specifically:

• When I have several text layers selected that were resized with the transform tool, the font size value in the Character palette appears one way, but...

• If I select any of those text layers individually the font size value in the Character palette appears differently.

• If I manually adjust the font size for any individual layer, the correct value appears in the Character palette, but...

• If I then reselect all the text layers again, the Character palette shows a new value for the first layer and applies this new value to all the other selected text layers, even though they have not been adjusted.

I've really tried to objectively consider an edge case when this behavior would be useful. I finally came to the conclusion that whoever proposed this behavior must have come to work high. ;-)

In all seriousness though, is there an ETA on a solution for this behavior?

Or perhaps there is some "Transform" data cache somewhere I can blow away to throw away the parameters that are creating this extremely annoying behavior?

I like the old way of changing text as well. I'm also interested in the bug fix. Any idea when it might be fixed?

Hi Chris,

What Austinbaker is describing is a bug and it's something we're looking into. There is a similar issues when a layer has been transformed as well. We're hoping to solve both problems at the same time.

Thanks,
David

austinbaker hit the nail on the head. I thought this was a bug but now I'm confused why anyone thinks this is useful. It slows my workflow because if I want to re-size 10 text layers I have to go one by one. What was Adobe thinking?

When i select one text item it shows the Correct font size in the Character panel.. but when selecting more than one text item (all of the same size) Photoshop's character panel shows the size (pt) around 1/3 the actual size. For example if one text item is 15 pt but when four 15 pt items are selected the size is shown as 5 pt

im not sure if this is a bug or how Photoshop is supposed to work.
