P: Doesn't save files to external drive formatted for ExFat - macOS 10.15 Catalina

1. Saving to an external drive is when the problem occurs. Doesn't matter what kind of connection.
2. ExFAT
3. Saving PSD files

Running a maxed 2018 Mac mini. Everything was fine until Catalina update. Issue happens with any Photoshop 20+ version.

A couple important questions for those that are running into this problem:

1. Are the failures occurring trying to save to a local drive, external drive, both?
2. If the failures are occurring on an external drive, can you tell me what file system is on that drive? (Cmd-I on the volume and see if it says HFS+ or AFPS or ?)
3. Does it happen with all formats or just certain format you're trying to save to?

Having this information will help us get this resolved asap.

adobe support basically told me, the problem is "weak gpus" and they can't do anything about it. nice adobe!

Same problem here too. I've been wasting an entire weekend working on projects with files breaking down, not saving and disappearing. Please fix asap!

having same problem - now the application won't relaunch after force quit. File is useless.

Same here. Thanks adobe. Not only can’t i save the file, it gets totally destroyed. Awesome!

I'm having the same problem, wasting a lot of time re-doing work. Adobe please fix this asap.

Same problem to me. I'm using external SSD Samsung T5, and PS stops in about 50%. Then, I can not quit PS, can not eject external SSD, can not shutdown Mac. I have to use the button to force quit Mac and restart it. 

In my testing it also seems to be a result of working with files from a external drive and then saving to them.

The problem started after I upgraded to Catalina and yesterday’s OS update didn’t fix it. Also turning off background auto saving in Photoshop hasn’t helped as some have suggested. I also tried different connections from the external with no difference.
