P: Drag duplicate layer to another document doesn't work anymore

Dragging a duplicate layer from one document to another doesn't switch to the document where you want to drop the duplicate layer. Now you have to copy the desired layer, switch to the document where you want to layer dropped and paste it in.

Again I say that every update seems to create more problems

This is a huge problem! I can't believe that this was allowed to happen and still not fixed. Updates to Photoshop are rarely helpful and in some cases are actually harmful. I wish we were not in the age of constantly updating things that do not need improvement. Is it planned obsolescence so that you need to buy new software and equipment or does it just keep the programmers employed?

Dragging layers into a second "docked" comp seems to work now in 21.2.2, Windows 10.

Greetings Jeffrey, how is the bug fix coming along? This one is a huge problem for professionals working with this product, as it really slows down the process. I have been working with Adobe products for almost 25 years and for the most part updates are good and helpful, and at times not, but this one is a real step backwards.
Thank you for your time.

Same here updated yesterday to the latest version and since then it does not work any longer.
Wether registry change nor two mouse buttons does work under WIN10 . Only side my side windows helps but thats annoying

Version 21.2.1
Windows 10 PC
Intel i7-7700
nVidia GeForce  GTX 1070

I often need to reuse layers in multiple comps and have historically been able to select layers, click/hold and drag those layers to another docked composition, then that composition will become active and I can release the mouse button to "drop" the layers into this composition. In the latest update, I am no longer able to do this with docked compositions. I have to first undock the "primary" comp that has the layers I need (so it's now floating "on top" of the Photoshop window with the "secondary", docked composition), then click/hold and drag to the secondary comp window. Not a huge deal, but I've learned to do things one way and now it doesn't work anymore.

Same issue here. Mac, latest version of photoshop.

Must be tabbed documents, I drag layers on both Mac and Windows. On Mac I have a watermark that I leave open and drag the text layer to all my web edits. On Windows I'm dragging both image and text layers between documents. But I don't use tabs on either platform. I always drag from the layers panel, not from the document window.

@74350, it's only when dragging from the layers panel to another document tab. Works fine if you drag the layer from the canvas using the layer move tool.

It's not a mac only issue it happens on Windows 10 . But, it only affects dragging from the layerspanel. Dragging from the image preview area works fine and can be used as a workaround until the issue is resolved.
