also confirming that i just recently downloaded the 2015.5 version and assuming that is what is directly causing the issue...

DON'T UNINSTALL 2015.5! It removes PS 2015 too...even though they look like separate apps in the Applications folder.

I had to redownload and install PS 2015 so I could continue working. I just hope that the 2015.5 files are reverse-compatible.
