I just updated photoshop to 2019 20.0 and now the text tool is misbehaving. I see no cursor and I can't select tpe. There is just nothing. I obviously disabled the stupid lorum ipsum nonsense, so when I click with the text tool, there is absolutely no indicatation that anything is happening. My coworker has the same problem and reset his preferences which fixed nothing.
Running Sierra 10.12.6

Yes, this bug just started happening to me after updating to the 2021 version. I am also on Windows 10. Every time I edit text, there's no cursor or highlighting at all. My install did mess up the first time because this is a work computer and the PrefsManager was blocked. Everything else seems to be fine though, so it's only the type tool that is broken.

Jeff, it appears this bug is back. Just confirmed with Win10. The text only partially highlights and the transform box is also fragmented.

I just updated to 2021 and I have this problem too! First time...

I switched between CMYK to RGB and worked, but I need to work in CMYK...

Any solution?

What version of Photoshop are you using? This issue is fixed in current versions.

Converting the image to RGB from CYMK did the trick for me

Install the latest version from Adobe.com. I corrects this issue.

If you're working with a CMYK archive and have the driver of Wacom installed, try opening a new RGB file and it works again.

The latest Illustrator CC 2020 has now this problem which looks the same.
There was no problem in Illustrator CC 2019.
The cursor disappears when trying to change text. Selecting text becomes not visible. You have to change it 'blind' and see what happens.
The tip to open a new document briefly solves this problem and then it comes back.
I have Chrome open at the same time.

The work around seems to be to enable the option "GPU performance" and "Animated zoom".
