P: Merging Layers Behavior in with Multi-Frame Animation

Photoshop CC has issues when merging layers in a frame timeline animation. When you merge layers it makes that layer visible in all frames. This happens every time, with or without the Timeline's option for "New Layers Visible In All Frames" UNCHECHECKED.

This was also not the way Photoshop behaved in all the versions of CS that I animated with. Before in CS if you had the option unchecked, if you had merged layers, and if it was only visible in a specific frame, it would keep it that way. It wouldn't make the merged frame visible in every frame of animation. So I'm pretty sure this is a bug that has cropped up in CC only.

I am using Windows 7 with Photoshop CC.

This should be fixed in the Photoshop CC (2015) update.

This is a serious issue. Has anyone at Adobe addressed this? Simply put, I have no use for Photoshop CC if this bug is not fixed.

This did not work for me.

Try right clicking (in windows 7) on the layer you want to merge, or the top layer, and click 'merge down'. This will merge it into the layer under it, but won't create the bug. At least, it worked for me.

I have this problem. The first pic shows the layers that I'm merging, notice the borders. The second pic shows what happens to my animation after the merging, notice how the border is messed up. This defect occurs on every frame of the animation, and I can't find a workaround.

Do you have an example file you can post w/steps to repro?
