P: New Printer. Photoshop consistently crashes when trying to print due to old printer information.

Had to get a new printer recently and I am now getting constant crashes when trying to print old PSD files (hundreds that I might need to print at any given time).

What I have done:

Removed all old printer drivers.

Ensured all current printer drivers are up to date.

Completly uninstalled and reinstalled Photoshop (all old versions etc are nuked)

Updated to latest Photoshop (23.2.1)

This is what happens upon opening Photoshop for the first time after install:

Open Photoshop

Open existing PSD file.

Print.

Get warning that says "The saved printer information is an incompatible version. It has been set to default values"

Press OK.

Get second warning that says: "The saved printer information is an incompatible version is not compatible with this version of Photoshop, or the saved printer is no longer available. You will need to check your printer settings before printing."

Press OK.

Get to the Photoshop Print Settings Dialog and make the correct changes, print, save and be happy.

Now if I open another PSD from my old printer, Photshop will crash every single time.

Now I have to delete my preferences and then I can print one more file.  For what I pay for this software this beyond unacceptable.

I have deleted preferences.

I have held down the space bar when printing.

I have uninstalled/reinstalled all drivers and software.

What am I missing? I am fine with having to reset my printer information when printing an old file.

I am not fine with having to reset preferences EVERY SINGLE TIME to just print a file.

I found that post as well and made sure I that I had the right drivers as well.

I just found another post here where someone was having an issue printing and the fix was ensuring that the print driver was from the actual company site, not from Windows (downloading it and installing it). Not sure what printer you're using. But you might want to go to the manufacturers site and download the latest driver for it. Can't hurt, might fix the issue.

@lisah32622329 Engineering is asking for a crash report and system info. I'm not seeing any submitted crash reports from you in our system. If you haven't done so already, please submit all Crash Reports along with your email address: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/submit-crash-reports.html That will help us diagnose the crash.

To supply Photoshop System Info - launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.

The model and driver version for the printer (or Printers you have attached and drivers installed for) would be useful.

Thanks.

Any chance you have and try Lightroom?

Can you print in other applications, is Photoshop the only one crashing?

I have tried the space bar solution and still get same results.

That warning message is new to me; odd.

You might try this:

Quit Photoshop if running.
Relaunch Photoshop and open the file that you want to print.
Click on the File menu and go to Print. ...
Now press and hold the Spacebar key for a few seconds.
This should reset the Printer Preferences for Photoshop. Different than resetting the others.
