P: New problem with Actions: Can no longer "Delete path 'Path 1'" in one step

Hello!

When recording actions in the past, I can click, drag and delete a Path and the action is recorded in a single step. For example, the action would read "Delete path 'Path 1'."

I've recently noticed that now when I try to record the same process, two steps are recorded: "Select 'Path 1'" and then "Delete current path." Seems minor, right?

This can lead to a problem if you have no 'Path 1' in your document. If you already have any other path selected, this two-step process will delete the other path you have selected!

This affects me when I want to clean up a bunch unneeded paths in a series of documents before I send finals to the client. My files usually have paths named a certain way, but not every file has every path. When select-and-delete a path was in one step and the target path is not present in a document, Photoshop produces an error, but no other paths are affected. With it in two steps there is the potential that a path I want to keep would get deleted. I have to remember to add in another step to 'Deselect current path,' which is a work-around, but is not as an elegant solution.

Additionally, my old actions that were recorded with the one-step process still work, but any new ones record the two-step process.

Thanks,
Bruce

The path you entered, is too long. Enter a shorter pathFile Name could not be found. Check the spelling of the filename,
and verify that the file location is correct.

Hi Bruce,

It appears this changed between CS6 and CC.  I've opened an issue for this so an engineer can review.

Thanks,
Eric
