P: "New Window" of a document doesn't update anymore after the latest PS update

I constantly use a second window for opened documents (Window > Arrange > New Window), after the recent update (25.11) the second window doesn't seem to update properly. Usually it updates after each brush stroke (with some little delay), currently it doesn't update unless I click on the second window, hit Undo or change some layer visibility (the first video). The second video is from 24.7.4, the second window updates properly.

PS version 25.11.0, Windows 10 Pro, AMD Ryzen 7, 64Gb, 2080S. Use Graphic Processor, Multithread Compositing, GPU compositing are on. Tried to turn them off to.

The second window intermittently refreshes, just not with every change.

You can try the Navigator panel as a workaround, it appears to refresh correctly.

When I am working on an image in Photoshop, I am always using at least one additional view / second window (via Window > Arrange > New Window) with the target scaling, so that while I am working zoomed in, I can watch at the same time how it will look in the target format.

With the current Photoshop Version (25.11.0), this suddenly doesn't work anymore. The second window shows the same content of the first window at first, but it isn't updating while I'm working. It not even updates its content on saving.

Only when I move that secondary window, it updates the view according to the current progress.

I cannot use Photoshop like that and instantly had to downgrade to the version I had used until that broken update. In 25.3.1 everything still works as expected. Please fix this.

Operating System is Windows 11, I have way enough RAM (64GB) and a 2070 Super which worked fine with PS until now.

Hi,

I work on a mac Studio, and I have the latest photoshop version installed. OS is also up to date.

I use to work with duplicated windows to see in real time the result of a brush-stroke while I work in a small zoomed area. This is a standard operation that never gave me issue so far.

The issue:

It is lagging, or just not updating the twin-window at all. I have to go to the twin-window and click somewhere. Then it does the visual update.

I restarted the computer, no effect.

I made a screenrecording showing the issue: https://youtu.be/wgefV5WGcrM

Anyone with the same issue? Or is there a way to solve this?

Thank you

(PS: I mistakenly posted in Discussions threads, Admin can deleted that if necessary)

Thanks Cmass. I just want to confirming the prior version of photoshop (25.9.1) works fine in terms of refreshing after brushstroke. 25.11.0 doesn't. Happy to upload a video of the behavior on my machine, but I don't have presmission to upload videos on the forum.

Thanks,

Jeff

I open a new window like arrange -New Window in the Photoshop menu and work on it, but it doesn't display in real time.

In the previous version, the drawing was displayed in real time, making it easy to work with.

After installing the latest version, it is not visible when drawing, such as when clicking back or opening a new window. You have to do something separately for the drawn image to appear.

Is it perhaps an error? Or do I need to change the settings?

Or should I reinstall the previous version?

I can confirm that there is an issue with the 25.11.0 Release. It does not draw in real time. Sometimes it draws the first stroke only after releasing the mouse button, and other times it does not draw at all. In my experience, it draws on the original only after clicking on its tab to switch focus.

Hi @Sergey Kritskiy

Thank you for sharing the video of the issue. I've passed it along to the team. In the meantime, please continue using the previously working version and follow this post for updates.

Hi, when you activiate a new window in the workspace (so their are two windows of the same document) the brush stroke does not refresh after releasing the stroke (as it used to). All other tools refresh upon release (transform, move, fill tools etc) but brush stroke does not refresh until you use another tool or click into the second window and zoom and/or modify something on the new windows canvas. I have attached screenshots to illustrate:

Canvas not refreshing after release of brush stroke:

Canvas refreshes once a different tool is used other than brush: (in this case, marque/move)

My specs

Photoshop: CC 25.11.0

Computer:

MBP m2 pro 32gb Sonoma 14.5

and

Macbook Air m3 16gb sonoma 14.5

Thanks for your time.

Hi, as you can see my second monitor is not responding properly to my first one.

Sometimes it responded after I made about 10-15 strokes, sometimes it did not respond at all (I will have to click on the 2nd window, then I would see all the changes made)

Is anyone having the same problem? Can this be fixed?

Hey, @Kapik. Thanks for sharing the details. I'll need more info to help you figure this out. Please share the system info from Photoshop Help > System info > Copy and paste into a text document > upload and attach here.

I've failed to recreate this on my machine with 2 additional displays. Please add a video of your workflow. Does this happen with documents of all sizes? What troubleshooting have you tried?

I'll move this to discussions for now. Try this:

Go to Photoshop > Settings (CMD + K) > Performance > Advanced Settings > Disable 'GPU Compositing' & restart Photoshop.

Check if it helps & let us know how it goes. Thanks!

I'm having an issue with my second monitor. I am an artist who puts a duplicate of my work on a second monitor so that I can record that screen for speed paints (it shows the process without all the zooming in and out). Recently this second window has just stopped updating. I can draw all I want and that screen will not change. For some reason if I undo or transform something then it will update, but the regular brush strokes just don't register for some reason.

I made sure that photoshop, my drivers, and everything else is all up to date on my computer. Restarting. But I am at a loss. Does anyone have any insight as to what could be going on? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I use the Navigator window instead.
