P: No image preview on Open dialog box on Windows

The preview window in the "Open" dialog box on Windows is gone in Photoshop. So if I click on a PSD file (once) to preview it, there isn't one. I have to completely open the file or go digging for it in Bridge. This is a very fundamental feature that needs to return, especially for those of us that have hundreds of files to dig through. PLEASE fix this.

Can someone please tell me why in 2021 Adobe and Microsoft still cannot display thumbnail images of Adobe CC apps in Windows Explorer natively? What will it take to get them to finally settle the issue after almost 15 years of waiting for a solution?

I don't use Bridge (fonts to small). I don't use Sage (it causes all sorts of issues, including caching issues).

I WOULD REALLY LIKE NATIVE THUMBNAIL SUPPORT UNDER WINDOWS PLEASE!!!!!!

Also, since this is not a support question but a comment for other people to comment on, I would like to ask forum admins to leave this thread open for discussion and to please not close this thread prematurely. Thank you!

We are in 2021. It would be really great to attach a small thumb image to any photoshop file in windows. Being able to preview the file in the explorer would be really great.  Please, Please!!

Is there a codec I could install in my Windows 10 so I could see the vignette of the image contained in a PSD file instead of the loge PSD?

You might find some, also image browsers applications that have implemented it, but unfortunately most of them don't work for .psd's which have been saved in Photoshop with 'Preferences' option:

File Handling / File Compatibility / Maximize PSD and PSB File Compatibility: Never

The associated threads you should see on the right board in 'Related Conversations'.

Hi

I wonder if anyone can help, I have a collegue reporting a problem, I can't find it listed anywhere and as I am a Mac user I cant recreate / confirm. On her windows laptop she states that since the most recent PS update (mid June 21) in file explorer she now only sees the PS icon for her PSDs and can't get a thumbnail preview of her pictures to select the right one before opening.
I am not sure about this at all,  and wondered if anyone else is noticing this or if anyone had any tips I can pass on to her.

TIA

Hi

Windows doesn't have the ability to show previews of PSD's

She could use Adobe Bridge or one of the following

WOW. Adobe don't care as long as all of its users are trapped on perpetual monthly "rent" of software. Lazy as NY landlords

Yeah no preview on actual photoshop files - I see.  Bummer and so weird.   Well at least the other file types are visible.

This solution is something you'd THINK would work but nope... still doesn't solve the fact that no photoshop thumbnails still to this day. When Adobe removes a feature they really don't do take-backs.

Photoshop uses the system preferences of Windows Explorer.  Open explorer and go to the view options.  Make sure the "never thumbnails" is unchecked.  then :

Apply to all folders (button up top)

Simply uncheck this box from the windows explorer view options , which is how photoshop displays things as well.
