P: No image preview on Open dialog box on Windows

The preview window in the "Open" dialog box on Windows is gone in Photoshop. So if I click on a PSD file (once) to preview it, there isn't one. I have to completely open the file or go digging for it in Bridge. This is a very fundamental feature that needs to return, especially for those of us that have hundreds of files to dig through. PLEASE fix this.

By the way, the PSD format really is in the list, sandkicker. I think you must have missed the comment advising you to look for a scroll bar at the right edge of the list of formats. Photoshop (.PSD) is right up at the top, while All Formats (the default) is at the bottom.

Why there should be a scroll bar instead of just allowing the list to be taller is anyone's guess.

What happens if you type *.psd into the Filename field and press Enter?

Richard,

There is a difference between the Windows dialog and the CS6 open File dialog.
When I am in CS6, and go File, Open,PSD, PSD is no longer in the list of All Formats, as it used to be in CS5.

Frequently I want only, to list PSD files by themselves while working on CS. CS6 has its own dialog.

Hi sandkicker. I'm using CS6 on Windows 7 and I can sort by PSD only in the dialog. Are you sure you're scrolling through the complete list of formats in the scrollable dropdown? It's at the very top of this list.

Hi Chris. Looking forward to you reinstating the image preview on the open dialog.

Not looking for a answer, if Adobe is looking into the issue I am happy.
But there is one other thing associated with PSD preview.

When in CS6, and you go file-open, the dialog screen would allow you to list only PSD, now that also does not exit...

Like I said as long as it's being worked, am sure it will get fixed, all bugs usually do.

This has been addressed multiple times. Just because you didn't like the answer does not mean that you did not receive an answer.

We are updating and innovating - and as part of that we have to update to deal with changing OS requirements.

It would be really nice if someone from Adobe would truly address this. I'm using CS6 less and less (although I'm paying monthly for the cloud). Since CS6 is not identified as the default, and since I also use Lightroom, this is particularly disruptive to the workflow because much of it has become manual.

What happened to the Adobe that actually created updated products and innovation?

Same here, there are a number of things moved around also, if you want to arrange multiple photos for comparison, you now have to go "windows, arrange" to use the tile feature.

As to the issue with CS6 PSD preview, am awfully glad I did not remove CS5, have found I am using it more and more than CS6

Please read the entire thread. Photoshop removed the preview before the other apps, because we knew about the upcoming OS requirements.

And yes, Bridge is quite fast and efficient on most systems: I use it all the time.

"No, it is not generally agreed -- Bridge is normally fairly fast and efficient."

Chris, are you serious? Do you even use Bridge? I'm running a very well set-up PC, and Bridge is far from fast and efficient.

And, if "this issue has nothing to do with Bridge. All it has to do with is the OS vendors tightening down on security issues and customization of their dialogs" is REALLY the reason for no image preview in Photoshop CS6, WHY IS IT PART OF ILLUSTRATOR CS6 ?!?!?! You're contradicting yourself. Did 'OS vendors' say 'ok, you can use image previews in Illustrator, but Photoshop? I don't think so!'. No, i don't think they did that.

There is a lot wrong with Photoshop CS6, but the lack of image preview really messes with people's workflow.
