P: No image preview on Open dialog box on Windows

The preview window in the "Open" dialog box on Windows is gone in Photoshop. So if I click on a PSD file (once) to preview it, there isn't one. I have to completely open the file or go digging for it in Bridge. This is a very fundamental feature that needs to return, especially for those of us that have hundreds of files to dig through. PLEASE fix this.

That worked...for a moment. All the images flashed up then went away. I also purged the entire cache through the Preferences option and no change. Thanks for a helpful suggestion anyway!

Bridge has some functions for purging and rebuilding its thumbnail cache. Look in Tools - Cache.

It is? It's still an issue of not being able to view CS6 Photoshop thumbnails...not only can I not view them in the Photoshop open dialog, or "My Computer" but the solution proposed of using Bridge won't work for me either. I use Bridge all the time to view images...this is a problem that's very similar to not being able to view them in the other ways. Heavy sigh.

That would be a completely different issue.

I just recently installed the CS6 Suite and noticed that I do not get a preview of CS6 .psd thumbnails in Bridge either. What am I doing wrong? I can see a thumbnail of my older CS5 .psd files...but not CS6.

I have been trying to use Mini Bridge (which I detest). I get the message that my files are too large and that I must have full Bridge running already to use mini bridge... So another program fully resident in memory? Really?

yep. sucks big time, and I have always extolled Adobe for being such innovators. They messed this one up bad, and apparently don't care.

When I accidentally click on “Browse in Bridge” in the CS6’s Open menu, it ruins my day a bit. It’s that worthless. These you-can-view-huge-icons-in-your-Explorer-window-with-one-of-these-crappy-CODEC-apps that are being peddled here are almost as worthless, as has been evidenced by the majority of sentiments expressed already.

I never realized how much I (and apparently many others) relied on the Open Dialog image preview until it was yanked... or forgotten... or whatever.

Any which way you cut it, this sucks.

Photoshop hasn't provided Explorer thumbnails since Photoshop 7. We tried to, but the Microsoft API for it had too many bugs (and never got fixed).

If you want Explorer thumbnails, there are several third party packages available that can provide them. (just watch out for the "can't save because file is locked or in use" problem due to the MS API bugs)
