P: Normal and Bump Map filter generates images with lines through them.

If you use the Generate Normal or Bump Map filter in PS CC 2015, the resulting image will be unusable since it has a weave pattern through it. Run a cloud filter on an RGB image and then generate a normal map and you'll see it clearly.

Seen on OS X 10.10.5 and 10.11

OK, I can reproduce the artifacts (yuck). Looks like the 3D engineers overlooked something.

hey Chris. This is still an issue with 2015.1.2 – see the image below. It makes this feature unusable. I need to look around for a filter that works now.

Before CC 2015.0.0 (the plugin crashes photoshop now), I encountered the same problem.
My method : enlarge the original map (200%), apply the filter, then reduce the normal map (ok, it does not fit the problem, but it works properly)...

yeah i just tried this and am seeing the weave pattern as well, its kinda like a interlaced video effect but in both the x(red channel) and y(green channel).

here is what ps i am on:
Adobe Photoshop Version: 2015.0.1 20150722.r.168 2015/07/22:23:59:59 CL 1032107 x64

i uploaded an image showing the issue, the left side is a crop of the original and the right is normal map filter run with default settings. original image size is 1024x1024.

the plugin itself itself looks like a vast improvement to the previous one, but this artifacting renders it useless in its current shape.

im running a gtx 980m with the most recent drivers btw.

What "weave pattern" are you referring to?

Did you install the Photoshop 2015.0.1 update?
