P: Pen Pressure not working with Huion devices with Photoshop v 25.0 & above

I noticed that with the arrival of the new update for 2024, the pen pressure has stopped working and even in general the program is quite laggy, when you make a stroke or use the lasso tool for a short period of time it freezes and does not let you continue, hindering the workflow, I am using a Huion Kamvas 13 and the pen pressure works with any other program like Clip Studio, Krita even works in Illustrator.
But I can't get it to work again in Photoshop.
Searching for solutions in forums and videos I HAVE TRIED THE FOLLOWING METHODS:

-Have the pen pressure checkbox active in the brush settings.
-Verify that the Window Ink checkbox is active from the Huion driver.
-Even try with the famous text file "# Use WinTab UseSystemStylus 0".

None of this has solved my problem, I honestly can't say in which update specifically I noticed this error, but I know it was from this year's update.

I am a bit frustrated as I have not been able to work properly and I need to resolve it.

Thanks

I had the same problem. I don't remember if it was this way but try "restore preference on exit" which is in the "preferences" menu and then "general"

Hello. Ever since switching to PS2025, my huion pen hasn't worked with pen pressure and tilt settings - basically no information from the pen is coming through aside movement. I can't work with the previous workarounds because I can't find the folders suggested.  Also the usual windows ink -solution doesn't work.

It's a bit disappointing this is still a issue. Any ideas how to get my tablet to work this time? I'm on win11 environment, all drivers up to date, Huion Kamvas 13 GS1331.

Has anyone figured this out yet? This is ludicrous

I'm having the same problem. Haven't been able to figure out where you're supposed to save that .txt file so I haven't been able to do that one yet (all the file structures I see in posts about this don't seem to exist on my machine, though clearly photoshop runs so I don't know what's different). But I've tried all the other obvious things... nothing seems to work. Really frustrating as I can't do visual work without it. (As I mostly take a digital painting approach, pressure is pretty critical). Need a solution to being able to draw that doesn't require a technical degree to figure out.

Turning off windows ink, fixed our issue of not being able to click and drag in illustrator. THANK YOU!

Hello-
This issue usually happens to me after photoshop updates and just preformed this very task today. Brushes preview icons in the palettes do not show up as 'tapered' as they should; absolutely no reinstalling of tablet drivers, restarting my system etc. works.
When photoshop updates this preferences tidbit gets left behind?

This fix consistently works for me every single time- I hope it can aid those who have tried all of the other solutions.

Original website I found does not exist anymore, trying to keep the information alive:
________
INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Locate “PSUserConfig.txt” text file in WINDOWS or PSConfig.txt” in MAC if file is not there then create a new one.
(paths to find these specific folder/files at bottom)

2. Create a new blank notepad/.txt file
3. Name the file
“PSUserConfig.txt” (windows) or PSConfig.txt” (MAC) file and copy-paste the suggested commands from below:

# Use WinTab
UseSystemStylus 0
WarnRunningScripts 0

4. Save document and add to proper folder (listed belowAdd the txt document in this folder to:
Windows: USER>PCname>APP DATA> ROAMING > ADOBE PHOTOSHOP SETTINGS
Make sure hidden folders are marked visible> under 'view'

MAC:
Go to/ Applications/ Adobe Photoshop / Adobe Photoshop (Version).app/Contents/Required

Make sure to Restart Photoshop after you have followed the steps.

Cheers

Hi Adobe Community,

This was my fix for the pen pressure sensitivity issue on Photoshop. I am using Photoshop 2025 v 26.0 and am using a Huion Kamvas 16 Pro Plus 4k. After doing hours of research and trying a heap of different methods to try and fix this pen pressure sensitivity issue I came across a youtube video that completely fixed my issue.

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7nL10xGIA_s&t=139s .

Now this video is specific to wacom but it works just the same with Huion tablets. The first thing you should do is disable the "enable windows ink" option at the bottom of the digital pen page.

Follow the steps that he suggests and then close and open photoshop again.

This worked for me, I hope it works for you 🙂

Hi! I'm using a Huion Kamvas Pro 16 GT-156 on Windows 11, and after latest update I'm having a frustrating issue with Photoshop 26.0. The pen pressure sensitivity is completely unresponsive. I've already:

  • Updated the tablet drivers
  • Reinstalled Photoshop
  • Checked and adjusted settings in both the tablet software and Photoshop
  • Tried using the tablet in other programs
  • Created a new Photoshop document

Despite all these attempts, the problem persists. Has anyone else encountered this issue, or does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix it?  Thanks for all answers 🙂
