P: Pen tool lags

In Photoshop CC the pen tool lags about half second from when it is initially clicked. This makes it very hard to work fast using paths. It literally takes half a second for an anchor point to appear after clicking.

Thanks for responding Jeffrey,

I've tried all of these methods and unfortunately the pen tool lag is still there, and inability to preset the path mode still isn't working correctly.

Today to my delight the pen tool suddenly worked fast again, but only for about 1/2 hour, then went right back to lagging.

Try this:

Determine what video card you have and go directly to the manufacturers website (nVidia or ATI/AMD) and download the latest driver: http://blogs.adobe.com/crawlspace/201...

After you have the latest driver, Try restoring your preferences: http://blogs.adobe.com/crawlspace/201...

If doing both of those doesn't help, select Edit>Preferences>Performance... and click [Advanced Settings...]. Set the Drawing Mode to "Basic" and restart Photoshop.

Yeah Klutman you seem to be right.. So then Adobe needs to understand that 1. A large percentage of us are Windows users, and 2. A very large percentage of us use the pen tool!

Please, can someone from Adobe at least respond to the thread?

Wow, I find it pretty unbelievable that this issue still isn't addressed. Not only is the pen tool lagging(and randomly works fine for a while, then starts lagging again), but I also can't preset the path operations mode with the + and - keys like in CS6. This is irritating to say the least, especially since the pen tool is a vital part of my daily workflow.

Adobe, are you hearing us???

(specs: Win7 64, plenty of ram, nvidia gt 630, recently updated drivers, did a clean reinstall of CC, trashed prefs, changed multiple options in Preferences>Performance)

I tried to do so, no change at least.
I moved the "Adobe Photoshop CC Prefs.psp" to the desktop, settings were reseted, but the issue is still there.

I would suggest restoring your prefs to see if the problem goes away.

(Save your old prefs by moving them to the desktop:You have some non-default settings.

It helped another customer here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/61236...

If that helps, we can narrow down the setting that's adversely affecting your hardware.
