P: Photoshop 27.10: "Edit in Photoshop" from Lightroom Classic does not load image

Since today’s Photoshop 27.10 update, the “Edit in Photoshop” command in Lightroom Classic 15.5.1 is not working anymore for me. Photoshop opens automatically as before (if it’s not open yet) but no image is being loaded. Downgrading Photoshop to 27.9.1 resolves the issue and the “Edit in Photoshop” functionality is back to normal. I also tried to change the external editing file format from TIFF to PSD or PSB but this didn’t make any difference. Anyone else facing the same issue? 

I’m running macOS Tahoe 26.6.2. Closing and re-opening LRC and PS didn’t solve the problem, rebooting the machine also didn’t show any effect.

      Hi everyone,

      Thank you for the detailed reports and reproductions here. It has been really helpful in isolating the issue quickly. I’ve filed this for the engineering teamto investigate and prioritize. 

      In the meantime, here are confirmed workarounds:

      • Downgrade to Photoshop 27.9.1 via the Creative Cloud app (Other versions > 27.9.1).
      • Alternatively: Temporarily disable Denoise in Lightroom Classic before sending to Photoshop, then re-apply back in Lightroom, or it using Camera Raw as a filter inside Photoshop.

      We understand this disrupts a core editing workflow and appreciate your patience. We'll update this thread as we have more information.

      There is a long thread about this in the Lightroom Classic forums already, with a workaround. It happens when you have used denoise on that image.

        There is a bug in the latest update of Photoshop and Photoshop Beta. When sending an image from Lightroom to Photoshop, Photoshop opens, but the image itself does not open.

        I reverted to Photoshop version 27.9.1, and the problem disappeared.

        Another confirmed instance of this issue.

        On my Mac, both Edit in Adobe Photoshop and Open as Smart Object in Photoshop launch Photoshop, but the selected image does not open when Denoise is enabled in Lightroom Classic.

        I tested both Photoshop 2025 and Photoshop 2026 and experienced the same behaviour.

        As soon as I untick Denoise in Lightroom Classic, both the normal Edit In command and Open as Smart Object work correctly again.

        I have also confirmed the workaround: disable Denoise in Lightroom Classic, open the RAW file as a Smart Object in Photoshop, double-click the Smart Object to open Adobe Camera Raw, and apply Denoise there. This works successfully.

        This appears to confirm that the failure is specifically associated with Lightroom’s Denoise state during the Lightroom-to-Photoshop handoff.

          Thanks for confirming. It’s safe to say that this is a definite bug now that hopefully gets resolved in the next update. I also reported it via the chat function of the Adobe help center.

          I updated to Photoshop 27.1.0 and have Lightroom Classic Vers. 15.5.1 installed and the Edit in.. Edit in Photoshop 2026 feature is not working. Neither right clicking or using Cmd-E works. The screen switches over to Photoshop but the image does not open. These are Sony RAW files. I do not have Photoshop Beta installed either. I tried uninstalling both PS and LR Classic and restarted computer and this did not work. I then re-installed Photoshop version 27.9.1 and it’s now working. Seems to be a bug. Running a Mac Studio M2 Max with Tahoe Version 26.6.2, everything up to date.

          This is related to the MacOS Tahoe 26.6.2 update. I tried to reproduce this error on my MBP M1Max running Tahoe 26.6.1 and I couldn’t. Photoshop opens the image just fine, regardless of whether I have checked Denoise or not. My wife already updated her MBP to Tahoe 26.6.2 and she does see this issue exactly as described: enabling denoise means Photoshop does not open the image, disabling denoise makes Photoshop work correctly again.

           

          So here’s a workaround that I just tested: Disable Denoise in Lightroom, open the image as smart object in Photoshop, double click the smart object to launch Camera Raw, enable denoise in Camera Raw.

          I’m still on 26.6.1 and I can assure you I am having these problems with LR/PS!! I’m on a M1 Mac Studio, 64GB ram and 1tb ssd.

          Contrary to what I said last night, it’s still not working properly.

          However, I’ve now identified which images open in Photoshop and which don’t:

          • Edited or unedited images without Denoise applied in Lightroom open fine via the “Edit in Photoshop” feature.
          • Edited images with Denoise checked in the Detail section of Lightroom will not open via the “Edit in Photoshop” feature.

          This looks like a bug and I think others can very likely replicate this issue. I’d appreciate if someone else could give it a try on their machine,

            Same for me. I use Denoise quite a bit so at the moment it’s broken my workflow. Adobe has really made a mess of things again. I’ll be switching to Capture One and use PS for blemish removal or occasional use of Gen Ai.

            Actually, it’s (at least in part) Apple that made the mess. This is due to the Tahoe 26.6.2 update.

            Just a quick update on this - like mentioned before, after downgrading to 27.9.1, the “Edit in Photoshop” functionality was working again for me. Thought I’d give the upgrade one more try before going through the uninstall process of Lightroom and Photoshop. Rebooted the machine first, closed all apps, upgraded the previously downgraded PS version through Creative Cloud, opened PS first and LRC afterwards and voilà, it seems to work fine again (at least for now). From a technical point of view, it doesn’t seem to make much sense to me but I’m still glad this issue seems to be sorted now by downgrading and upgrading again. Will monitor Activity Monitor as LAMY2017 suggested and look out for the other issues people are having with the latest Photoshop version (like the curves adjustment layer not working properly or random app crashes) and report back should I run into them as well.

            Trying to export edited files in LRC to Photoshop using ‘edit in’ files aren’t exporting, unedited files are.

            Try unchecking “Denoise” in the Details tab of Lightroom for the files that aren’t exporting to Photoshop for you. In my case, as soon as Denoise is checked, the files won’t be sent to Photoshop and when I uncheck the box, they export fine.
