P: Photoshop 27.10: "Edit in Photoshop" from Lightroom Classic & Lightroom Desktop does not load image with Denoise

Since today’s Photoshop 27.10 update, the “Edit in Photoshop” command in Lightroom Classic 15.5.1 is not working anymore for me. Photoshop opens automatically as before (if it’s not open yet) but no image is being loaded. Downgrading Photoshop to 27.9.1 resolves the issue and the “Edit in Photoshop” functionality is back to normal. I also tried to change the external editing file format from TIFF to PSD or PSB but this didn’t make any difference. Anyone else facing the same issue?

I’m running macOS Tahoe 26.6.2. Closing and re-opening LRC and PS didn’t solve the problem, rebooting the machine also didn’t show any effect.

P.S.: I posted this in the Photoshop forum as well

    Hi everyone,

Thank you for the detailed reports and reproductions here. It has been really helpful in isolating the issue quickly. I’ve filed this for the engineering teamto investigate and prioritize.

In the meantime, here are confirmed workarounds:

    • Downgrade to Photoshop 27.9.1 via the Creative Cloud app (Other versions > 27.9.1).
    • Alternatively: Temporarily disable Denoise in Lightroom Classic before sending to Photoshop, then re-apply back in Lightroom, or it using Camera Raw as a filter inside Photoshop.

We understand this disrupts a core editing workflow and appreciate your patience. We'll update this thread as we have more information.

Cannot open multiple Lightroom 15.5.1 images in Photoshop 27.10 as layers.

PS hangs and you can only force quit PS

The problem does not occur in 27.9.1

    Windows 11 / Nvidia Geforce 4060 Ti

Adobe Lightroom 15.5.1 denoise is causing a problem with "open photos as layers in Photoshop" on my apple computer. I have reinstalled both Photoshop and Lightroom to try and solve this issue.

I can edit an individual photo in Lightroom using denoise and send it to Photoshop with denoise applied by right clicking that individual photo only. But if I try to open multiple photos as layers in Photoshop with denoise applied to any or all of the photos that I am working with, they will not open as layers in Photoshop. The fix is to turn off the denoise on all photos and then they open as layers correctly.

As a real estate photographer, I have been using denoise in Lightroom on all my photos on a daily basis for months, and never had any problems. This problem appeared out of nowhere. Hope this helps. Please reply to kj126150@gmail.com. Thank you

@Ken37033507dzxp If you revert to Photoshop 27.9, will the problem go away? Creative Cloud app > Photoshop > 3-dot menu > Other Versions

@howardt67007433 I just tried on my Lightroom Classic, but I am using a MacBook Pro M5 Max Chip. When I try to Edit in PS, I get this:

And I tried all three options, same results with the last options opening in the same window as the current tab (hence the edit-edit in the name.

It seems that’s related to a known bug:

On a Mac with M1 processor. Recent update of PS will not open photos that are transfer from most recent version of lightroom classic.  “Edit in PS” opens PS to a white screen not a work screen.  No photo.  I have open with bridge26.  after saving it saves to the correct directory and is visible in Bridge26. Unfortunately, it has to be manually inputted into LG

After initial edits in LRC I select ‘Raw Details’ but when I try to ‘Open in Photoshop’ it will not open, when I uncheck the raw details box it does open. I have uninstalled and reinstalled both programs but the problem persists.

Photoshop 27.10 has several serious known bugs. One of them:

They are known and the developer team is working to fix these. In the meantime go back to versoin 27.9.1
