P: Photoshop Crashing When Opening CR3 Files (32 GB Ram) Windows

Hello I am having massive problems editing pictures I have taken with my new Canon EOS R DSLR camera. I have tried turning off my GPU in PS and Camera Raw but to no avail. I have made sure to update my GPU (RTX 3070) driver and update PS but neither have helped. I'm out of options here, and am hoping anyone can help.

Experiencing frequent crashes in Photoshop when opening CR3 files from a Canon EOS R DSLR with 32 GB RAM on Windows? Despite disabling the GPU, updating the RTX 3070 driver, and ensuring Photoshop is up-to-date, the issue persists. For a concise solution, try reinstalling Photoshop and Adobe Camera Raw, clear Photoshop cache, and verify the integrity of CR3 files. If problems persist, temporarily disable the GPU again, and consider contacting Adobe Support for more tailored assistance. Ensure backups before making changes, and check for any conflicting software or plugins that might contribute to the instability.

Performance problems and crashes in Photoshop 2023 can be attributed to problematic fonts. The font cache in Photoshop holds the list of installed fonts and their features. Deleting this cache file enables Photoshop to generate a new one. I primarily use Photoshop 2023 for my website's graphic work, and it's exceptionally impressive.

One or more corrupt fonts can cause general performance issues, including crashes or hangs when launching or using Photoshop. The Photoshop font cache contains the enumerated list of fonts and font features that are installed on the system and can be used by Photoshop. If you delete this font cache file, Photoshop can create a new one.

I sent you the first DriverQuery but the /V is too long to send in a private message on here. Can I put it into a notepad file and email it?

@Jeff22899621p8mm Apologies for the late reply. Are you still crashing?

If so, could you please run the following prompts: driverquery and driverquery /V to spit out a list of driver info on your Win machine. You can send me a direct message with the text contents of those logs.

If that fails to yield an answer solution, we'll try the custom logging ACR plug-in which is more involved.

Sorry for the late response. Yes I definitely would be willing to try it out and see if we can see what's really going on!

@Jeff22899621p8mm Bruce gave me a link to a custom camera raw plug-in that will spit out some logs for us to better diagnose. Let us know if you'd be willing to install that and see if you can get it to fail so we have better info.

Thank you for following up. It is difficult to diagnose the problem further without access to your machine. Would you be willing to run some experiments using custom components we could provide?

Ok after checking a few more times I can confirm that Photoshop crashes upon opening every 4th CR3 file currently. I've counted and that sequence has happened about 5 times on my system today. Just forwarding this info.
