P: Photoshop drawing random lines when using tools (Remove, Brush and other drawing tools)

Bonjour,

I was having the same issues with multiple tools in Photoshop. Finally after a day of trying all things, we have found a solution on Reddit. I tried it and it fixed it right up. This is for PC only.

    1. Create a text document with Notepad. Name it “PSUserConfig.txt”
    2. Write “UseSystemStylus 0” in the text body (that’s a zero not an “O”)
    3. Save it in “C:\Users\*YOUR USER NAME*\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 2026\Adobe Photoshop 2026 Settings

(In step 3, *YOUR USER NAME* is unique to whatever your username is.)

Restart photoshop and the tools should work again.

Credit to u/Professional_Use442 on Reddit for sharing this fix. Note: If you want to use the stylus again you’ll have to follow their instructions on how to re--enable the stylus mode.

Your screen shot took a while to load, and I had not seen it with my first reply.

Are those brush strokes happening when you move the mouse/tablet, or without input from you?

Can you describe in more detail what is happening?

Is there a fix to this? My lasso & clone tools aren’t choosing areas I want.

Hi its me again, after reviewing how i did the solution pinned in the main post, i noticed that my text file was named  “PSUserConfig.txt.txt”, so dont be dumb like me and be careful to NOT write the extension in the name of the file
Seems like its working now, THANKS BYE

@kklarson13 there’s a thread here that may be related to your issue

It could be an assortment of reasons -- dirty mouseball (if present); battery low on a wireless mouse.

After the first click, does everything between clicks “connect,” that is, as TVO says something is keeping the eraser stuck in the on position (like, the Shift key)?

Thanks, but none of these are my issues. It’s definitely the software bugging out. It’s usually the first click that goes haywire. If I can click a bit off of the image I can then go about my work. And then other times it’s constant. Tried new keyboard and mouse.
