Environment:

OS: Windows 11 64-bit
CPU: Intel Core i7-14700K
GPU: NVIDIA RTX 2000 Ada Generation
Photoshop Version: 27.10
Driver: NVIDIA Studio Driver

Issue Description: Immediately after updating to Photoshop v27.10, severe UI and canvas rendering issues began occurring during normal editing. The symptoms include:

Rapid flickering where UI elements and the canvas temporarily disappear and instantly reappear (no black or white flashes).
When navigating menus (e.g., Preferences), the text briefly vanishes and comes back.
While editing, the active photo disappears from the canvas and instantly reappears.
The flickering happens extremely fast, rendering the application completely unusable for daily work.
This issue is isolated to Photoshop and does not occur in other applications.

Troubleshooting Steps Executed:

Verified the monitor is connected directly to the NVIDIA GPU, bypassing the Intel iGPU.
Forced High Performance GPU assignment for photoshop.exe via Windows 11 Graphics Settings.
Disabled Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling (HAGS) in Windows.
Disabled Multi-Plane Overlay (MPO) via the Windows Registry.
Disabled GPU Compositing and OpenCL in Photoshop's Advanced Graphics Settings.

Results: The rapid flickering persists despite all GPU and OS-level troubleshooting. The issue is only resolved when Use Graphics Processor is completely disabled in Photoshop Preferences, or when rolling back the installation to v27.9.1. This strongly indicates a regression in GPU rendering specific to v27.10.

Hey All! Thank you all for reporting this and for the detailed system info; it's been very helpful.

We've been able to reproduce the UI/canvas flickering issue in Photoshop 27.10, where the screen intermittently darkens and flashes internally. It has been filed with the engineering team for investigation.

For now, these are the workarounds:

Downgrade to Photoshop 27.9.1 via the Creative Cloud app (Other versions > 27.9.1).
Go to Edit > Preferences > Performance > uncheck "Foreground Composite Cache" and "Use GPU Compositing." from Advanced settings. (Suggested, not verified)

Colors shifting on canvas is another issue that has surfaced with PS v27.10, it is being tracked here:

I can confirm this issue after updating to Photoshop 27.10 on Windows 11 with an NVIDIA RTX 3060 12GB.

The entire monitor where the Photoshop window is displayed starts flickering/flashing intermittently. If I move Photoshop to another monitor, the flickering follows the application to that display.

This started immediately after updating to 27.10 and did not occur in the previous version.

System:

Windows 11
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 12GB
Multi-monitor setup

This looks like a clear regression introduced in 27.10, most likely related to GPU/UI compositing.

For a professional application used in production environments, a display-level flickering issue of this kind is quite serious and frankly should have been caught before release.

Please investigate this as a priority. Having to roll back a production workstation because a stable update introduces full-screen flickering is not an acceptable workflow.

I have a color flickering here. The colors get stronger and after a few seconds gets back to normal.

It sounds like a few different issues may be getting reported in this thread.

Regarding the flickering issue, CarlosMesquita_influxus mentioned that it appears to be fixed in the latest Beta build. Can others confirm whether the flickering is also resolved for them in Beta? If so, the fix has already been made and will be included in the upcoming release.

Please let us know whether or not you’re still seeing the flickering issue in the latest Beta build, as this will help us determine whether any further investigation or action is needed.

I’m also testing with an NVIDIA card and have not been able to reproduce the issue. If you are still seeing the issue in the Beta build, a recording showing what you’re doing when the flickering occurs would be very helpful. If the flickering doesn’t appear in a screen recording, a video taken with your phone works well too.

Just to clarify: I haven't tested the latest Beta build because I've never received the Beta version, so I did not report that the flickering is fixed in Beta.

My report is that the flickering occurs in Photoshop 27.10.0 with my RTX 2060 when the GPU is enabled, but does not occur in Photoshop 26.11.4 on the exact same system.

Another unrelated issue in version 27.10 is that, with the Spot Healing Brush Tool, the keyboard shortcuts to increase or decrease the brush size sometimes stop working. When this happens, I have to close and restart Photoshop.

I don't see how recording this behavior would help in this case, since the flicker lasts only a fraction of a millisecond and may not even be captured reliably on video.

More importantly, this is not related to a specific PSD. The same hardware behaves differently depending on the Photoshop version:

• Photoshop 27.10.0 + RTX 2060 + GPU enabled → flickering
• Photoshop 27.10.0 + GPU disabled → no flickering
• Photoshop 26.11.4 + the same RTX 2060 + GPU enabled → no flickering

I also replaced the video cable, with no change.

There are already several reports describing the same issue with different NVIDIA GPUs. This strongly suggests a regression in 27.10.0 rather than a hardware-specific problem.

Hopefully Adobe can investigate this and provide a fix.

Hi Stefanie. I’m experiencing exactly the same FLICK issue, even though my GPU is a different NVIDIA model — an RTX 2060.

I also have Photoshop 26.11.4 installed on the same machine, and there is absolutely no flickering in that version, with the GPU enabled.

I spent quite a lot of time troubleshooting this, including replacing my video cable with a brand-new DisplayPort cable, thinking the problem might be related to the connection. I tried several different settings, including disabling OpenCL and GPU Compositing, but the flickering persisted in Photoshop 27.10.0

Then I had the idea of testing Photoshop 26.11.4, and the problem completely disappeared.

So, in my case, the fact that the issue occurs with an RTX 2060 as well suggests that this may not be specific to the RTX 2000 Ada, but rather a regression or compatibility issue introduced in the latest Photoshop version.

Hopefully Adobe can look into this, because the previous version works perfectly fine on the exact same hardware.

We look forward to hearing from Adobe and hopefully seeing a fix for this issue in Photoshop 27.10.0.

The only workaround that actually worked for me was downgrading to version 27.9.1. Since doing so, I haven't experienced any further problems. Could you please keep us updated in this thread when a new release is available that permanently fixes this issue? Thanks.
