P: Photoshop v27.6 no longer allows relative negative numbers in Canvas Size

In Photoshop’s Canvas Size window, I can no longer reliably use negative numbers to relatively change the canvas size. Yes, “Relative to Current Dimension” is checked. The only way around this that I’ve found so far is to change the units to inches and then back to pixels. Here is a video:

I’m using version 27.6.0 in macOS 26.5.

I forgot to add that Photoshop requires a restart for the change to take affect.

Seems to be caused by having Enable Modern User Interface checked in Photoshop 2026>Settings>Technology Previews.

See the same behavior on Windows 11 with Enable Modern User Interface checked in Edit>Preferences>Technology Previews. with Photoshop 2026 (ps ver 26.7)

@Jeff Arola Just tested it, and negative values works correctly with that setting either checked on or off (Windows 11).

I turned off Enable Modern User Interface and the problem went away on macOS. So thank you, Jeff!

Thanks, @Kris Hunt, it seems to be a macOS issue, as inputting negative values in either pixels or inches works correctly using Windows 11. Has this bug been acknowledged yet?

Thanks for bringing this up, @J E L & @Kris Hunt. The team has worked on this recently along with a few critical feedback items we’ve gathered in the Community.

    A fix should arrive soon.

    Thanks!
