When I create a droplet in Photoshop 2025, it creates a folder instead of an EXE file. What is the solution?

I received this from Adobe yesterday:

Thank you for your time & patience.
Our team is recreating the issue with different Mac OS Sequoia environment to find an resolution to the issue.
We request you to please wait for the next upcoming updates for Photoshop.
The case will be closing automatically however it will still be saved in our archives, we request you to wait for the Photoshop updates.

So, I guess we wait for Adobe to engineer a fix.

Well then, what is the truth?

ADOBE:

1) Is this issue a macOS problem that you can not code for?

2) If you can fix it, are you working on it?

This has been going on for months now. I can not tell you how much time and money I've lost manually processing hundreds or thousands of actions without simiply droping files on a droplet.

PLEASE KEEP US UPDATED.

Your last post appear to be from April 11, 2025.

It is now Tuesday, May 27, 2025.

Can you please provide us with a status updaate?

Thank you.

John

They did reply. They are aware. They are just dragging their heels on correcting the incompatibility between Sequoia and Photoshop.  The fact that they suggested we wait of Apple to fix this is head scratching. This is not an Apple problem. This is an Adobe problem.

  • Adobe knows it's a problem
  • Adobe blames the problem on Apple Mac Sequoia
  • Instead of Adobe attacking the problem, they say Apple needs to fix the problem.

WHY IS THERE TOTAL RADIO SLIENCE ON THIS FROM ADOBE?
THIS IS BAD BRANDING.

It is definately Sequoia that caused the hiccup. Sequoia 15.5 did not fix it either. Nore will any Apple update.  Adobe needs to address this as it is their ownership.  Two weeks ago I reached out to Adobe via telephone support.  Unfortunately that's an hour or so I'll never get back.  The support person had me doing a number of sequences, including rolling back several versions of Photoshop.  Nothing helped bring back the ability to create droplets. Since a support ticket regarding the inability to create droplets was created, the did reach back and this was their response:

Yes, after checking with the team it seems like the issue is specific with the Mac OS sequoia versions, we request you to update your Mac OS to the latest, if you are working on the latest version of Mac please wait for the next Mac OS updates and recheck the issue.

If there are any other queries please feel free to contact us back.

Thank you for working with us,
Adobe Customer Care.

So there you have it....

  • Adobe knows it's a problem
  • Adobe blames the problem on Apple Mac Sequoia
  • Instead of Adobe attacking the problem, they say Apple needs to fix the problem.

What am I missing here?

Anyone?

The problem must be Mac Sequoia 15.4.1

After upgrading to it can't make a Droplet.

I used Bridge -Tools-Photoshop-Image processor and selected Actions I wanted to use

Not working any longer, very sad. You can't avoid the complicated authorisation process for the first use, these are probably Apple Guidelines.

By the way, the Droplets are still Intel and not Universal Apps. Maybe Adobe could change that too?

Thanks for that. Fortunately the Batch function in Photoshop still works OK too. However neither of these have the same funtionality and speed of a Droplet.

Too bad there isn't a solution yet for creating droplets on Mac OS Sequoia. But for those who need to batch resize and format change, I found out that Adobe Bridge has a feature in the Workflow tab to do this. Go to the Workflow tab, click + to make your own and + for different steps. In each step, change to match your needs. Save that workflow, then drag your images onto that workflow and press Start Workflow.
