P: PS 27.10 - Brightness control in Sky Replacement inoperative

The Sky Replacement tool on my Windows 11 (25H2) PC was working perfectly up until I update Photoshop to version 27.10 .0 three days ago.

Selecting Sky Replacement in the Editor (Edit » Sky Replacement) is OK and all my skies appear.

When I select a sky, I find all of the sliders and functions, except Brightness function perfectly.

The Brightness slider can be moved to both extremes, but no change in Brightness materializes.

I have performed a clean instal of Photoshop, without effect (Uninstalled PS with Revo Pro Uninstaller, and thereafter deleted every Adobe folder I could find).

Even performed a clean reinstall of the Windows operating system.

Finally, I restored my system, from a Macrium Reflect X to a state prior to the Photoshop to version 27.10 .0 update. Low and behold - the Brightness for Sky Replacement works.

It looks like a Bug, to me.

Appreciate any comments/advice

September 17th, I just found this bug myself. Can confirm brightness slider inoperative. Windows 11. Please Photoshop, bring this back!

It’s because the Devs removed the brightness tool but forgot to update the sky tool with the new exposure layer tool

I wonder if this will even get fixed 😂

I also confirm that this is not working on my end as well. The workaround I do is to apply the sky replacement without touching the adjustment slider and then just use a curve to brighten it back up. It takes an extra click or two, but it’s a workaround. Definitely not ideal though

That is likely because the "Brightness/Contrast" adjustment layer was replaced by the "Light" adjustment layer in version 27.10.

As you can see, the "Light" adjustment layer in version 27.10 does not have a brightness slider.

That is likely the end result. I was mostly working from the “preview” adjustment screen, but I see that the resulting layers have changed. I don’t usually “mess” with the resulting layers that are created by the process. At most, I may refine the masking some. Apparently the programmer introduced a bug into the process when they expanded new options into the brightness options panel without changing the sky replacement logic to match. Just mostly wanted to bring it to someone's attention so that it can be fixed in a future release.

Your System Info from Photoshop > Help > System Info. Please copy and paste the full details here.
Screenshots or, preferably, a screen recording showing the issue.
Whether this happens with specific images or file types, or with all files.
The steps in your workflow leading up to the issue.

Sorry, I need to get work done, so I reinstalled the previous version. I documented all this to live customer support yesterday. They went online to my computer. It happens with all images and multiple file types. It should be easy for you to just try it on your own copy. Just pick a landscape image then under edit pick - sky replacement. Once you pick a “sky” you will note the the brightness slider has no effect - other sliders work fine.
