P: PS 27.10 - Brightness control in Sky Replacement inoperative

The issue with Sky Replacement has also been fixed in "Version: 27.11.0 20260929.r.26 8c16e56 arm64 (final, Release)."
Please update and check.

This issue has been fixed in Photoshop Beta version 27.12.0 20260927.m.3691.
However, the fix has not yet been applied to the Final version.

I am Kritagya Nayyar, a product manager on the Photoshop team. This is a known issue introduced in Photoshop 27.10, and it should be fixed in the upcoming 27.11 release, expected soon.

In the meantime, there are two workarounds:

1. Adjust the brightness after committing Sky Replacement
Once you commit the Sky Replacement changes, the Light/brightness related settings is added as an adjustment layer within the Sky Replacement group in the Layers panel. You can adjust the lighting directly from that layer. This is probably the easiest workaround for now.

2. If you need to adjust Brightness before committing
You can temporarily use Photoshop 27.9, where the slider should work as expected. Alternatively, the issue should also be fixed in an upcoming Photoshop Beta build, expected by the end of next week.

I have the same problem and I’ve seen another report on it several weeks ago.

I'm having an issue with Sky Replacement in Photoshop 2026 on Windows. When I adjust the Brightness slider under Sky Adjustments, the canvas preview no longer refreshes, so I can't see the effect of the change while setting up the replacement. This used to work normally, and I use Sky Replacement regularly for property and drone photography, so it's slowing my workflow down considerably.

Steps to reproduce

1. Open a 16-bit image (in my case a DJI drone DNG opened via Camera Raw).
2. Go to Edit > Sky Replacement.
3. Choose any sky with Preview ticked.
4. Move the Brightness slider. The preview on the canvas does not change.

What I've already tried

• Restarted Photoshop and the PC
• Reset the Sky Replacement dialog (Alt + Reset)
• Unticked and re-ticked Preview in the dialog
• Disabled GPU compositing, then OpenCL, then the graphics processor entirely (restarting Photoshop each time)
• Confirmed Photoshop is fully up to date in Creative Cloud
• Switched from the NVIDIA Game Ready driver to the latest Studio Driver (616.92), restarted, and re-enabled all GPU settings
• Added Photoshop to the NVIDIA App program settings with maximum performance power mode
• Turned off the Modern User Interface in Technology Previews

None of these fixed the issue.

System

• Windows PC, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060, Studio Driver 616.92
• 51 GB RAM available, Photoshop set to use 70%
• Full System Info attached

Could you advise whether this is a known issue in the current version, and whether there's a fix or a recommended version to roll back to?

I have the same problem, but for me, it began with OS 27.0, not the 27.10 update which I don’t have yet. I’m sure Adobe and/or Apple will fix it. I have faith!

September 17th, I just found this bug myself. Can confirm brightness slider inoperative. Windows 11. Please Photoshop, bring this back! 

It’s because the Devs removed the brightness tool but forgot to update the sky tool with the new exposure layer tool

I wonder if this will even get fixed 😂
