P: PS 27.4 Dialog Boxes No Longer Retain Last Used Values (Apply Image)

Hi, been using PS for over 25 years.

After upgrading to the latest version of PS (27.4.0) it seems that Adobe is changing the dialog boxes on the Mac to look a bit more ugly and less "Mac like". Things like the dialog box font has changed to whatever smaller and ugly font Adobe is using in PS and not matching the Mac OS font as it has been for many years. It is just not a nice looking interface.

Additionally in the new Apply Image dialog box (and others), it no longer remembers the previous values from when you last used that command, which was really useful and constant feature since PS 4.0. This even worked when you quit the program and restarted but now this is broken.

Please lets retain useful functionality.

Hi, just adding another voice to this issue. I use Apply Image a Lot in my workflow (architectural illustration with RGB multimattes used to assign masks). Minutes after photoshop automatically updated, I encountered this problem. I immediately reverted back to the previous version. This can’t work!!! The blending mode is by default set to Multiply, I need it to be Normal every time. Previously I only had to change it once per session. Now every time I select a mask to update it, I’d need to also change this to Normal. And since I’ve been doing it the other way for 10+ years, that’s going to be a hard habit to change. Not to mention a waste of time. Please please please get this back to the way it was! A bonus, for me anyway, would be to make “Normal” the default!

Hey, @jc_5253. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. Thanks for the feedback and for pointing out the behavior.

In the Layer > New Layer panel, last-used states are not retained, even in previous versions of Photoshop (v22.2). For now, I’ve highlighted the issue in the Image > Apply Image panel for the team's review.

Feel free to add specific & detailed feedback about any other panels that have changed behavior. Please follow @Jeff Arola’s instructions for a temporary workaround.

    Thanks!

Thanks, the New Layer images were there for illustration of the, IMO uglier font, etc.
I will turn off the modern user interface for now and see how it goes for the Apply Image.

    Thanks again

Until Adobe has completed the transition to a “Modern User Interface” you can go to Photoshop 2026>Settings>Technology Previews, uncheck Enable Modern User Interface, restart Photoshop and see if that solves your issue.

Seeing how many things are broken under the Modern Interface now, I shudder to think what things will be like when the transition is complete.
