P: PS 27.7 Modern UI: Save For Web file names cannot copy/paste text

Using the latest Photoshop 27.7 with Modern User Interface enabled, in the file dialog launched from Save for Web you cannot copy/paste text into the file name. Also when you hit the escape key to cancel the file dialog and return to Save for Web screen, hitting escape a second time does not close out of Save for Web but command-period still does. If you avoid trying to copy/paste text the escape key still works correctly. Disabling Modern User Interface returns all the expected behavior. This is on a fresh machine set up a couple weeks ago.

Hey, @Larry29731486lwom. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. Thanks for bringing this up. I can recreate this on the current macOS. I've logged this for the team to review.

    Thanks!

Experiencing the same issue. It's been slowing down my workflow quite a bit, so hopefully there's a fix coming soon.

Same issue. It’s because the Photoshop edit dropdown menu is greyed out (unavailable for all options in the edit dropdown, including paste) in the Save For Web Mac OSX save dialog box. If you choose SAVE AS or SAVE A COPY the paste and other functions work because those options are available and not grey out in the edit menu. Very annoying as it slows down my workflow considerably. Please fix ASAP.

Thank you for following up Sameer. I’ve noticed there is a workaround that you can paste into the filename field if you right (control) click in the field and choose paste. But it’s the keyboard shortcuts that don’t work.

Hi @Corey_Scholl , thanks for reaching out to the Photoshop Community Forums! Let's try a few things first to see if we can resolve this issue.
    1. Confirm that Command + V is not overridden by another application or system shortcut. You can check this by going to System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts and reviewing the settings.

    2. Try manually resetting your Photoshop preferences: https://adobe.ly/4a8djIr. Remember to back up your settings before doing the preference reset: https://adobe.ly/4tYgfyo
If neither of these steps works, we can continue to troubleshoot the issue. I hope this helps! ^CH

Unable to use Paste (apple v) when editing the file name when exporting the image. Clip board key commands for cut, copy and paste are NOT working today. Today is the very first issue. I have already restarted and no luck. Hitting Control and then the option of Paste works to edit the save name. But NOT Command V. I’m sure your team is working on this but just incase this is a NEW error. Keep up the great work -- Been working with photoshop daily since 1996. Adobe Photoshop Version: 27.7.0 20260514.r.11 fa4476d  arm64 (final, Release) Number of Launches: 91 Operating System: Mac OS 26.5.0

Hey, @ria_8364. In Addition to what @jane-e shared. If you’re using Photoshop 27.7, you can also check if unchecking Modern User Interface from under Photoshop > Settings > Technology Previews helps at all.

    Thanks!

I tried unchecking “Modern User Interface” under Photoshop > Settings > Technology Previews and it actually fixed the Save for Web shortcut issue. However, now Generative Fill no longer works after disabling it.

Same thing just started happening to me!!! Mac Tahoe 26.5 and I JUST updated to Photoshop 27.7. Now, all of a sudden, I can’t copy a file name and paste it when I do a Save for Web. It works for Save As, Save a Copy, and even Export As, but for Save for Web, I get the alert sound when I try to paste the file name in. This is extremely frustrating, because I do a lot of repetitive opening of files and saving for web with specific settings, and being able to copy a file name and paste it in and then add modifiers to that name are critical to my workflow.

Confirming that unchecking Modern User Interface from under Photoshop > Settings > Technology Previews did, indeed, fix the issue. Thank you!

Yes, others have experienced this after updating to Tahoe. See this thread on Apple’s website:

    Hi,

I’m experiencing a very specific issue with Photoshop’s “Save for Web (Legacy)” workflow ever since updating to macOS Tahoe.

When I open “Save for Web (Legacy)” using Shift + Option + Command + S and then click “Save”, the “Save Optimized As” dialog opens normally. I can type in the filename field without any issues, but none of the standard edit keyboard shortcuts work anymore inside that window:

    • Command + V

    • Command + C

    • Command + X

    • Command + A

What’s strange is that right click → Paste still works, so the clipboard itself is functioning correctly. The issue is specifically with keyboard shortcuts not being recognized inside that dialog.

Another important detail: every time I press Command while that window is open, macOS plays the error/ding sound, and Photoshop in the background reacts instead of the Save dialog. For example, pressing Command can toggle options behind the popup. Also, the Edit menu items like Copy, Paste, Select All, etc. appear greyed out while the dialog is active.

    I’ve already tried:

    • Restarting Photoshop and the Mac

    • Reinstalling Photoshop and Creative Cloud

    • Resetting Photoshop preferences/workspaces

    • Toggling Full Keyboard Access and Keyboard Navigation

    • Rechecking Accessibility permissions

    • Testing in Finder and other apps (shortcuts work normally everywhere else)

Unfortunately, manually typing filenames is not a realistic workaround for my workflow since I export large batches of assets with very long filenames.

Has anyone experienced this after updating to macOS Tahoe?
