P: PS v26 Type tool keeps resetting back to Myriad Pro 12pt [2024]

Just recently started having this issue in 26.5 and it's very annoying. Tried flipping the "fill new layers with placeholder text" switch, makes no difference. Please help, Adobe. 

I am also having this issue in May 2025 with the latest version of Photoshop (Mac).

This is happening to me now on a Mac.

Having this issue now, too. Every time I double click the text box with already selected font to change the content, the font automatically changes to the Myriad Pro... I'm losing my mind

3/4/25 using 26.3.0 and I just started having this problem about a month into working on one document. I have the preferences set to fill with placeholder text. Nothing works. I've got a lot of text layers. My document is 2.33 GB. I shouldn't be having memory issues though. I've got 48 gb of ram, 12 gb of Vram, and 2 tb of storage space. I've got my memory usage set to let photoshop use 70%. I haven't had a single issue until today, and I've been working on this one document for over a month. If I double click the icon for a text layer in the layers panel, the text in the document becomes active. If I start changing the text or typing, photoshop reverts to myriad pro. If I select the text tool first, then reselect the proper font and THEN start typing, it shows the correct font. Why is this happening? How can I fix it?

Photoshop v26.3. Just started having the same issue. Really messing with my workflow. Why are we paying for this?... I guess I'll try to revert back to a previous version...
