P: Ps27.4 & Beta Manipulating the transform values in the Properties panel causes the path to be duplicated.

When I try to scale vector shapes pixel-perfectly using the Properties panel, the shape doesn’t scale correctly (see attached screenshot).
Only the blue selection outline increases in size, while the shape itself remains unchanged.
Even after selecting the shape, its dimensions stay the same and it doesn’t appear to scale.

In Photoshop 2026 (ps ver 27.5) you can still turn Use Live Update off from the Properties panel fly-out menu.

Oh, I see. It was moved there in this updated. Previously, it was a checkbox under the size.

I assume it will always default itself to On for new shapes created, and I wouldn’t mind it if the feature just works correctly.

The latest update (27.5) makes this issue slightly harder to workaround. Now the Live Update option is hidden, but defaulted to On, with no way to disable it. When incrementing values using the keyboard, I could do Shift+Up Arrow and on the second time, it creates a Work Path in the Paths panel, which then takes the scaling and causes the desyncing of the size. Deleting this Work Path gets it to behave more like it was before.

Or just clicking and dragging by the label, which is harder to be precise with, but it doesn’t make the duplicate path that breaks the control.

Thanks for bringing this up here. The team is aware of this behavior, and you can check whether disabling ‘Use live updates’ as a workaround helps. I’ve added the bug details and status.

Thanks!

When you first noticed this issue in Photoshop 24.7, did you have the Photoshop Beta installed as well?

@jeanninem49420939

Is the pixel image and vector mask linked in the Layers panel? If not, they will scale independently.

Unlike Illustrator, the color fill is pixel data, it's not a true vector fill that follows the path.

My layer panel looks like this. I’m using the shape not as a mask. Or did I misunderstand you?

Right, I misunderstood, sorry. Like the others, a full preferences reset is all I can think of. Now that I see what you did, I can’t reproduce it either. It all scales correctly.

I’m not able to replicate the problem. Resetting preferences, as Jeff suggested, would be a good start. If that doesn’t work, try uninstall, reinstall.

I’m assuming you’re using the newest version of Photoshop.

Yes, it's the newest version. I give it a try to uninstall and reinstall it. Thank you!

It’s still the same issue after uninstalling and reinstalling (PS 27.4.0 and beta). By the way in beta there is the same issue. I just noticed when I enter numbers in the properties panel, a new work path appears in the Paths panel. This path can be moved independently from the original red shape. Do you have any idea what might be causing this or how to fix it?

This doesn’t happen by using the handles.

Thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunately, it's still the same. I will try uninstalling & reinstalling.

I’m not seeing that here on macOS Tahoe 26.3.1 (a) with Photoshop 2026 (ps ver 24.7)

How are you scaling the shape: i.e. by dragging one of the handles on the Transform control box

(blue outline) or entering numbers in the Properties panel?

Thanks for your reply. This happens when I enter numbers in the properties panel. If I use the handles, it works correctly. But it is often easier to use the panel to, for example, enlarge the shape by 2 pixels.
