Hi iKarel

May I ask you if your computer is Mac or PC? And if it is a PC, what is your processor?

Hi Meredith

That did the trick. Many thanks!

@MeredithStotzner

In our previous discussion , we have already " indentified " the problem for one of the most common occurence , it looks like a majority of us we had " encounter program error " are using ryzen 3000 CPU .

Not to be confused with the people who had smudge issues .

However , for those of us who had problem , PS Beta 24.5 works flawlessly . So whatever your dev team has changed from 24.6 beta and onwards did something to neglect the ryzen 3000 CPU users . At least that was what most of us who had that specific issue are using .

I have written mails to your support team , opened tickets , remote control supports for hours , lodged numerous reports . It seems like all of it just went to deaf ears .

We have reinstalled OS , reinstalled multiple version of it nvidia drivers , both studio and game version and reset all of PS setting , this include setting it to stable ( or faster ) , none of the solution worked . I am sorry if I sound impatient , but it is disappointing because it looks like either your customer support did not take us seriously , or he did not deliver any of the information I passed over him to your software team at all .

Further to my previous message, a rough solution would be to be able to download and use two versions of the Beta software, until a proper fix is found, so than one can be used for the Remove Tool and the other for the Generative Fill.

Never worked for me. Tried all fixes with no result. Never worked on PS all versions or PS beta all versions.

Almost all of us who have a non working Remove Tool, have tried the "More stable" option long time ago with quit and relaunch, but it makes no difference whatsoever. The tool does not work on either the Beta (except version 24.5) or on any  stable version. But if one moves to 24.5 Beta version, then does not have Generative Fill.

Assuming you're replying to me with the problem of the crashing remove tool. If not, now that the conversations have been merged, I'm afraid it's necessary to identify the specific problem being addressed in each response.

I think most of us here who have reported the crashing tool problem have worked extensively through a long and detailed list of troubleshooting, as outlined in the original conversation.  The step mentioned is the least of those things (relaunch included).

I personally am back in 24.5 and it's working, but I don't think that solved the problem for everyone and now of course there's a constant update nag.  This is all detailed in the original thread.

There are a few users who are reporting the following fixes their issue:

1. Go to Preferences > Image Processing...
2. Choose "More Stable" for Remove Tool Processing.
3. RESTART Photoshop (Photoshop > Quit Photoshop, then relaunch).
Note: You will need to do this for each version you use; Beta and regular.

Please let us know if that solves the issue for you.
Some who had tried it previously had not Quit and relaunced, but it worked after restart.

Thank you,
Meredith

I'm not sure why the thread about the crashing remove tool was conflated with the thread about the smudging remove tool.  It really muddled the focus of the conversation, and I'd like to point out that we're also still waiting for a fix for this separate problem.
