P: Renaming Layers or Layer Groups causes crash after using layer filter

In Photoshop CC 2017 (also CC 2015), renaming a layer or layer group after using the layer filter option causes the programme to crash. It only happens after you've switched the toggle off (so you are no longer in filter mode) and then rename a layer. It doesn't have to be directly after either. You can preform a number of tasks first (edit artwork/text, move/delete a layer etc.) and then rename the layer and it will still crash.

The issue seems to clear up after an unspecified amount of time or possibly a certain amount of operations preformed

I've been able to recreate this bug every time I've attempted it.

It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help > System Info... and copy/paste the text in a reply.

Hi! This issue hasn't been fixed for me. Crashes every single time and I forget to prepare for it and lose a ton of work and time. I am so frustrated.

Hi! This is happening to me as well, and I'm able to reproduce the bug every time I filter by attribute, then try to rename a folder. I'm on windows 10, using the latest version of Photoshop 2017

Thanks Gary. I was able to reproduce this on Windows 10, if I filter by name.

Hi Gary, what OS/version are you running Photoshop on? If on Mac, what does the crash log say in it? If on Windows, does it say what the faulting module is in the event viewer?
