P: Save for Web no longer prompts before overwriting existing files in Photoshop 23.3.0 and above

I have a PSD with multiple slices. When I select Save for Web (File > Export > Save for Web (Legacy)), it no longer prompts you when you try to save to a file that already exists. It simply overwrites the file straight away without prompting.

I have had multiple chats with different Adobe Support staff with multiple cases being opened, and the problem still exists in Photoshop 23.3.0 and above.

I have cleaned up preferences, removed Photshop, and resinstalled. Have also run the official Creative Cloud Cleaning Tool and the problem still re-occurs.

Latest test was removing Photoshop and re-installing version 23.0.0 and that worked fine. The problem disappears. When you save a slice, if the file already exists, Ps will prompt you to ask if you wish to overwrite the existing file.

After updating to Photoshop 23.3.0 and 23.3.2, the problem re-occurs. Photoshop no longer prompts you when the file exists. It simply overwrites the file straight away without asking.

Can you please investigate this issue and get it fixed.

Thanks.

I'm on MacOS Monterey version 12.4

I also just tried updating to 23.4.1 and that didn't resolve the issue either.

Hi @Agrita Jain,

I tried this during my online chat with Adobe support, as per their suggestion also, and it didn't resolve the issue.

Thanks.

Hi @a.hortin

We are sorry about this issue you are facing.

Could you check few things at your end regarding this issue:

  1. Go to Photoshop>Preferences>General , Select Reset All Warning Dialogs .
  2. Restart PS. Does the issue still occur?

We would like to know if this issue is persistent with the new released 23.4.1 version of Photoshop.

Thanks,

Agrita Jain

Hi Cory,

Thanks for that. It's much appreciated. If it's of any help, here's a short screencast I did when I first contacted Adobe Care about the issue, over on twitter - https://share.getcloudapp.com/jkuXyJYk

Also, my Adobe account should have two support cases with more details on what was tried to help fix this issue. If you don't have access to my account and need those support case #'s just let me know.

Thanks,

Anthony.
