P: Saving copy not saving over jpg file

working on Catalina OS. saving file extension works now but does not save over jpg when saving it creates a copy which is annoying and time consuming to fix

Again, disappointed with the latest update of PS 21.1.3, still no fix for this simple issue

Yes this works as a workaround... which take up the same amount of time too as "Save as".. "Quick Export as jpg" or "Quick Export as png"

I was saving my files as an eps. It only would save eps files as a copy.

I found a workaround that works. 1st Save your layered file, 2nd Flatten image (from layer panel drop-down menu), 3rd File Save As the file to the file name you want to replace. Once you done these 3 steps your opened file is now the replaced file. No need to find it in your folder to open. TRY A TEST FILE first so you get the hang of it. It works perfectly for me.

When I try to replace a file by saving over it Photoshop creates a copy.

I've dealt with this problem as well, but I found that "Export/Save for Web" actually replace the file and don't add the " copy".  It worked for me perfectly.
