P: Taking forever in Reading Preferences

I have Adobe CC installed on a fast SSD, Photoshop startup is usually done in a few seconds, but lately is taking around 2 minutes in the “Reading Preferences” start stage.

I have done every existing throubleshooting recommended like resetting or deleting Preferences folder and files, manually, or trough Ctrl+Alt+Shift option, I have unistalled and re-installed, etc. but the problem persists like if CC were back in an old and slow mechanical HDD.

@alanb976665 If it's graphics related, it may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.

It's related to graphics engine. If I uncheck use graphics in performance tab the issue disappears. I've not updated my graphics drivers that are the latest from dell.

Has this been solved yet. I have ps cc2022 windows 11and this has just started to happen with nothing changing on my laptop except the update. If I delete adobe settings folder it loads ok but then after that it loads slowly taking ages for reading preferences. Same if I hold down shift/Ctrl /alt key and reset. Loads ok but subsequent start ups take ages on reading preferences. Not loading 3rd party apps make no difference.  I have uninstalled completely wiping all registry references and re installed. First load is fine but subsequent start slow on reading preferences.

This needs fixing.

@J453

Here's the link to my Styles.psp which was causing a problem with reading preferences.

@RosaPerry and anyone else in the thread who finds presets (.psp files) that cause this issue, engineering would like a copy of .psp file to investigate.

@J453 I found out that my Styles preference was actually corrupt. I deleted the preference and now when Photoshop starts, reading Preferences only takes about 3 seconds instead of 50 seconds.

Just went back to version 22.4.3 and start up time went back to normal. Is an issue with latest version (22.5) in my case.

I had to take extreme measures: Unistalled entire CC, first all the apps then the CC app, then removed all Adobe traces on my system: files, folders and registry entries. Only after installed again averything, Photoshop recover its normal loading time.
