P: The generative fill in Photoshop 26.0.0 is definitely worse than in previous versions.

The quality has dropped to an unusable level. Textures that were rendered beautifully in previous versions now sometimes appear smudged or as if painted in with a brush. There are far more nonsensical fills—like birds randomly appearing in hair or clothes, and extra hands in bizarre places when the image already has two! It’s like AI gone wrong. What happened to quality control? How does the AI actually get worse? This is beyond frustrating.

To make things worse, the newest update deleted my older versions, even though the "delete older versions" checkbox was unchecked. It's incredibly frustrating to lose those versions without consent.

The selection of Generative Fills are being automatically expanded as well. Is this a bug?

The patch was absolutely worthless; Texture is still faulty and unusable, random items are still showing up, and results are being blocked at a higher rate that EVER before. You really need to roll this back to the previous version. 26.0 is literally GARBAGE and unusable. This is our busy season and Adobe has single handedly sabatoged our bank accounts. I can not believe I pay you to ruin my editng schedule and disapoint my clients!!!!!!!! As you can see by the populartiy of this thread, we have had ENOUGH!!!!

While I appreciate new features in PS, the generative fill and other AI have been a bust. We've learned to zoom in and check carefully, as we're a printing business, and some if the images looked OK until printed but the resolution was just horrible and caused us some very expensive misprints. All of the AI should be beta. All of the neural filters need to be checked thoroughly as they sometimes work and sometimes don't. Sometimes they don't even render, they just sit there and do nothing.

I for one would appreciate more testing before release. This all feels rushed toget AI out the door, and while I understand early adopters will end up doing some beta testing, what we have here is really not even ready for user beta testing.

It is so bad compared to the previous version.

I uninstalled it. Unsable.

It looks like midjourney 2.

It was great in PS 25.12.0. Now it's a piece of c---.

Adobe wake up an update for a software we pay for is supposed to be better than the previous version. Like C4d, Davinci etc....

c'est devenu n'importe quoi cet IA, et cela bloque constament sous prétexte que l'on en,freint les consignes, on se demande pourquoi on paye si cher pour avoir un logiciel défaillant

@MeredithStotzner Thanks so much for the effort at both remedying this and communincating with us. I and many others surely appeciate the communication especially.

The change I noticed was upon starting work Monday the 18th (morning EST). I don't have examples I'm sorry to say, the work passes by so quickly and I usually just merge my results and move on quickly. I will try to remember to set aside any notable quirks next time, but I am limited in what I can share as the work is not my own but that of my clients.

Hello @AntLamb @robertw44482386 - when did you notice a change (day/time) and have you updated to 26.1? Also, can you provide examples, please? Please post in this thread or send directly to me. (My email is my first name at adobe.com ).
@robertw44482386 could you provide more details - is it the texture issue for you also?
The only day/build something changed was 11/17 we provided an update to 26.1 which contains client-side changes and 11/17 some Firefly server-side changes went live. (See my replyUnexpected Objects Fix for Generative Fill in Photoshop Desktop 26.1)

@davem14431122 - I cannot get a bald head either and I sometimes also reproduct the hairless rodent using a screenshot of your file. We'll investigate further.

Thank you!
Meredith

Unexpected Objects Fix for Generative Fill in Photoshop Desktop 26.1
Hello,
We have greatly reduced the unexpected/unwanted objects that started popping up in Generative Fill.
The fix is mostly client-side, so you will need to update to the latest build of 26.1 (released 11/17-11/19)
There are also some server-side changes (in the Firefly server) that went live 11/17, but the main fix requires updating Photoshop.
Please retry your examples where the Generative Fill added strange things instead of creating a seamless remove operation.
Thank you for your patience and thank you for alerting us to the issues.
@RedFishBlack HenryFinch and @careaux the examples you showed (flowers in hair, blobs on skin) should be remidied.
@bellevue scott  - the examples you showed should not produce unexpected animals. However the prompt "increase resolution" will not provide greater resolution. Please check out Enhance Detail  for Generative AI, though.
@robertw44482386 your halluinagenic results should also be addressed.

We appreciate your input!
