P: Transform bounding box displays incorrectly for Smart Objects

Please tell me a fix is on the way. I have been suffering with this bug since PS-CS5 was released.

The problem is that when working with smart objects and transforming them, eventually the coordinates of the transform tool's bounding box becomes reset to the top left corner of the image. The smart object could live anywhere else on the image.
It is extremely frustrating because once this happens, the only way to 'fix' it is to rasterize the smart object. After the rasterize, the transform box is appropriately located around the layer's contents vs the top left corner of the image.

There are any benefits to working with smart objects but once this happens, all those benefits are completely void.

CS5 has been out for a LONG time now... and there has yet to be a fix.

Fixed in CS6 or later.

Hi David
if you still have this problem, here's my solution:
- select all
- image>crop (delete cropped pixels deactivated)
- deselect

don't ask me why, but if you try now, ctrl-T will work as usual O__o
It looks like a Crop issue.

cheers

*Update*

I've wiped all user settings from "Documents and Settings", deleted all lingering preferences, plugins, etc from "Program Files...Adobe Photoshop CS5" and then done a complete reinstall from the original discs.

But the problem still occurs.

Here's the steps I'm doing:

1. Create a new document - any settings
2. Click - File - Place
3. Select any type of file and press enter to commit it to the doc as a Smart Object
4. Press Control+T to bring up the transformation controls
5. Distort any corner of the image and confirm by pressing enter
6. Click the transformation controls surrounding the SO
7. Notice the location of the transformation controls

Results:
The transformation controls are incorrectly located at the top left hand corner of the document.

Expected Result:
Transformation controls should appear local to the smart object.

Note: I installed the trial version of Photoshop CS6 and did not encounter this problem.

I am also suffering from this exact same problem, but never had this issue until today when it started happening out of the blue.

I've restarted my computer, reset all tools, deleted photoshop preferences and I've yet to figured out how to get rid of this issue. It's impacting my workflow a great deal....

I'm afraid I'm not sure about the behavior you're describing. Could you provide a screen shot? Maybe some precise steps to reproduce? I transform smart object but don't see what you describe.
