P: Vector shapes with gradients do weird things when you hit 'X'

Photoshop CC 2015: When a vector shape has a gradient fill applied to it, selecting that layer and hitting the X key does weird things. It changes the gradient to some other gradient that you had previously applied (even if it was in another file on a different day), and adds a bunch of extraneous steps to the History palette. Here is a video:

I'm running Photoshop CC 2015.1.1 on Mac OS 10.10.5.

I deleted my preferences, and now the gradient doesn't change when I hit X, but it still puts a bunch of extraneous steps in my history.

Once you turn the history log on, where do you find it? I assume it's a text file in the Finder somewhere.

Agreed. I'm trying to switch fg/bg colors when editing a mask but it's also affecting the gradient fill in my shape layer. Very frustrating.

could you turn on log in photoshop preferences and set it to most detail mode? http://sklad.bereza.cz/00-jarda/00_sc... This could provide more detailed info... (I hope)
