When using the “Remove” tool in Photoshop 2026 (27.8.0) on Windows laptop I receive “Tool is not responding - check internet and try again later” error.  Internet is perfectly fine however it does this about 10mins and then works for a bit.

    Hi @PhotosByChrisYGK

Sorry to hear you’re running into this. Based on the behavior you described, this sounds more like a Remove tool processing issue than a general internet problem, especially since it works again after a while.

A couple of things are worth trying first:

    • In Photoshop > Edit > Preferences > Image Processing, switch Remove Tool Processing between Faster and More Stable.
Why: Community replies suggest this can change the processing path the tool uses and clear out this kind of failure.

    • In the Remove tool’s Options bar, check whether it is using Auto, Cloud, or Device mode.
Why: Photoshop can route this feature through different processing methods, and one mode may be failing while another works.

    • Sign out of Photoshop and Creative Cloud Desktop, then sign back in.
Why: This can refresh the Adobe service session if it has become stuck.

    • Make sure both Photoshop and Creative Cloud Desktop are fully updated.
Why: There have been recent reports of Remove tool errors in the 27.8 range, so a fix may already be available in a newer build.

    • One more thing you can check is if you are connected to VPN or office network, I would suggest disabling that and conecting to private network like Mobile Hotspot and see if the same thing happens.

If you can share whether this happens in Cloud mode, Device mode, or Auto, plus your GPU model and whether Generative Fill also fails, that would help narrow it down further. All of this information will help us investigate the issue further and assist you accordingly.
