PSB Files are corrupted

My last two composite images have been corrupted.

I am downloading upscaled images from Midjourney, then upscaling them using Topaz Gigapixel/Topaz Photo and saving them as Tiffs.

I combine these images in Photoshop, creating files of between 2GB-3GB Tiff file size, which Photoshop insists I save as PSBs.

Once they are saved in Lightroom, they seem to get corrupted: either they cannot be opened in Photoshop or they have a glitchy/pixelated look when opened in Photoshop.

Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Using - Apple Mac Studio Desktop PC - M2 Ultra chip with 24core CPU, PS and LRM on iCloud.

Adobe have always recommended saving to local drives. It reduce potential errors due to connection issues with external drives. (In addition, network drives introduce more potential errors).

Try saving locally, then copying to your external drive. I always save locally, to a drive that is backed up daily, and have never experienced a corrupted image file when working that way.

Thanks for your reply, Dave. The file is already corrupted. I store everything on external drives. Each image is between 2-4GB, and the folder for each project might well exceed 20GB.

'With contradicting and missing information, there isn't much we can do.'....well, that's me told.

Ok, what happens when you save time a local drive rather than an external drive?

I'm not upset. I'm trying to get precise information so that we can help you figure out what the problem is.

Dear D,

You sound very upset by my post.

Please don't take it too badly.

Have a nice day!

Then what does this mean: "PS and LRM on iCloud" ?

And what hapens if you save to your local drive, not an external drive? Saving directly to external drives is not recommended, precisely because the risk of corruption is very much higher.

And there's more in your post that is confusinng, like: "Once they are saved in Lightroom". Your files aren't saved "in Lightroom". They are saved to disk, by Photoshop. Another poster recently got corrupted files because he apparently shut down Photoshop before it had finished saving the file.

Generally, file corruption is always caused by failing hardware, no exception.

Hi Dave,

I saved it to my external Hard Drive, not the Cloud.

Thanks,

Geoff
