Remove tool is crashing Photoshop

After weeks of using Remove without any problems, it has suddenly started causing PS to crash when I use it. I've tried changing the settings on Remove to 'More Stable' and have updated PS to the latest version, but I'm still getting the issue. I've tried the other tools and everything else is fine, its only Remove that has the issues.

I am having the same issue. When I tried to follow your recommendation to reset the Remove Tool, my PS did not have a drop-down on the right of the Remove Tool. It is very faint but seems that the drop-down is disabled... Am I doing something wrong?

Hi Dmitry, can you share a screenshot of what you see when trying to click on the arrow? Do you have a multi-monitor setup?

If resetting the tool isn't working for you, you can try to reset the preferences of Photoshop manually using the steps mentioned here: https://adobe.ly/3Ajj4V8

Thank you for the reply. I have reset Preferences, uninstalled PS,
rebooted, re-installed PS - still crushed. Then I uninstalled the latest
version of the NVIDIA driver (was from the end of Sept, I think) and
installed the older version from April 2024. Uninstalled PS, re-installed
PS and it appears to be working ok for now. It seems that the issue was
with the NVIDIA driver, but I am not 100% positive. I will update you on
whether I will experience crushes again.

Hi Michelle. I think it might have been because I had accidentally unticked 'Remove after each stroke'. Ticking this again seems to have got Remove working :-). Thanks for your advice on the resetting, will be handy for future issues.

Hi!

What version of Photoshop are you using? Did you do anything to Photoshoop before this started happening--upgrade anything?

Have you tried resetting the tool? With the Remove tool selected, choose the Tool in the Options and click on the dropdown menu icon. On the right side, select the gear icon and choose Reset tool.

Let us know if that works?
