Strange behavior of Free Transform tool with Smart objects

If you look at the size of a smart object in Photoshop, you will see that the smart object only occupies a corner of the canvas.

But at the same time, if I try to stretch an object onto the canvas, I see that it already occupies the entire space. After finishing the transformation, I see that the object is small again and located in the corner.
