Problem, the selected tools adjustment panel disappears under the working document. (PS 25.12.0). This requires moving the document to be able to change the tools.

(Unable to update beyond my version V 25.12.0. The V 26.0 is reserved for newer OSx.)
After deleting the preferences and restarting Photoshop, the problem was not resolved. The tool adjustment panel "hides" behind the working document when it is floating. Not when they are arranged in tabs.
Clarification. V.25.11 did not have this problem. Maybe I need to go back to this version.

Note : currently on PS V 25.12.0 impossible to update to V 26.0 because MacBPro too old.

Hey there,

We're sorry for your experience with Photoshop. Before doing any troubleshooting, update Photoshop to the latest version, 26.0, from the Creative Cloud desktop application. You can check the details here: https://adobe.ly/3Z1NRiL

After updating Photoshop if the issue still persists, you can try resetting your preferences:

https://adobe.ly/3O1FC01

Manually removing preference files is the most complete method for restoring Photoshop to its default state:

https://adobe.ly/3ACOcPA

This method ensures that all preferences and user presets causing a problem are not loaded.

1. Quit Photoshop.

2. Navigate to Photoshop's Preferences folder.
macOS: Users/[user name]/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop [version] Settings

Note: The user Library folder is hidden by default on macOS. To access files in the hidden user Library folder, see How to access hidden user library files.

3. Drag the entire Adobe Photoshop [Version] Settings folder to the desktop or somewhere safe for a backup of your settings

4. Open Photoshop.

5. New preferences files will be created in their original location.

You can back up your settings and custom presets, brushes & actions before restoring Photoshop's preferences.

Here is general info about that:  https://adobe.ly/3Z0Ru8B

If that doesn't fix the issue, try these below steps:

Go to Preferences > Performance, uncheck Multithreaded Compositing, and restart Photoshop.

Still, hanging?

Go to Preferences > Performance, click Advanced Settings, uncheck "GPU Compositing," and restart Photoshop.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Shivani
