when trying to open a picture the icons of the pictures are not showing the thumbnail in the open file window

What version of Photoshop and operating system? The File Open dialogue uses the operating system.

Is the lack of thumbnails all file types or just a specific type e.g. PSD/PSB ?

@Phil D850 what exact version of Photoshop and operating system are you using, are you referring to JPEG images, PSD’s or something else

updated this morning to sequoia 15.8 on a iMac Pro

photoshop 27.10.0

jpeg/jpg images, raw images from my camera

tiff

nothing is displayed

although on the welcome window the recent files icons are displaying the thumbnails correctly

What kind of chip does your iMac have? Intel or M1 through M5?
