TIFF has disappeared from the dropdown format menu in the Save As... dialog box

Updated to 27.11 this morning. Mac Studio M1 Max 64 GB RAM Tahoe 26.6.2.

I have had only the 4 main file formats (psd, tif, jpg, psb) selected in my dropdown ever since the feature to edit them went live. After upgrading to 27.11 TIF no longer appears in the dropdown.

Went to the format selection tool (Edit → customize save dialog file formats) and check to see that TIF was still selected as one of the formats. It was. Unselected and then reselected it, no change.

Workaround so far is to use the restore defaults setting in the customize tool. Then TIFF reappears in the many options in save as dialogs

I’m seeing the same thing after updating to 27.11. TIFF is still selected in the customized formats, but it disappears from Save As. Restoring the default format settings brings it back, so it seems like a 27.11 bug.

    This worked out for me.

Adobe has the “Customize Save Dialog File Formats” screwed up.  There should be no need to have to drag the numerous file formats out of the list.  In the list there should be a small box in front of each format.  You would then simply click the box for the file formats you want to use, not having to spend time dragging the ones you don’t want anywhere.  That makes no sense at all.

And to correct the problem @Srishti Bali that I originally wrote about. you do NOT need to reset your “preferences” and backup them up (that was a terrible suggestion!!!).  You “RESTORE DEFAULTS” from within “Customize Save Dialog File Formats”.  That procedure puts all the file formats back into the “available to use box” and you then must drag the numerous file formats you do not wish to use out again.

However, if this is going to occur each time we update from one version to the next, I certainly hope Adobe would establish a system like I’ve suggested above.

I’m seeing the same issue on my end with Photoshop 27.11. TIFF disappears from the Save As menu even though it’s enabled in the format settings. Restoring the default format settings brings it back, so it definitely seems related to the update rather than the file itself.

I see many file formats in the drop down list in the Save As… - dialog.

It seems that a local issue on your system. Try to reset your preferences as @Srishti Bali wrote.

Still can’t save a file as a TIFF.  And I’ve noticed that WEBP is also no longer available.  They were both available in 27.10.0.  In addition to the two (2) formats we have no control over, I had four formats available to me in 27.10.0.  These same formats appear in my “Saved Dialog File Formats Options” (jpeg, png, tiff and webp).  But only jpg and png are available to me … plus the two formats I never use and have no ability to remove.

    Hi @robertw44482386

Thanks for reaching out and for sharing the details. I tested this on both Windows and Mac machine, and it is working as expected.

Could you please try resetting Photoshop preferences after creating a backup of your existing preferences?

You can find the steps to back up and restore Photoshop preferences here: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/desktop/get-started/settings-and-preferences/backup-and-restore-preferences.html

Once the preferences have been reset, please check the behavior again and let us know if the issue persists.

Just curious in your testing did you go to the trouble of reducing the available formats to just those four in 27.10 then updating to 27.11 to see if TIFF was still available.

No need for me to reset the preferences, I can’t do that in my workday, especially as the workaround I described works perfectly. Maybe after work. Meanwhile I’m interested in the above results if you would be so kind as to take the time if you havent’?
