I recently did a clean install of my MAC OS Sonoma and made the DL

for my CC account. Launch photoshop and the HAND tool is selectedùand no matter what tool I clcick on

no change.

So no work.

I tried a FORCE QUIT but no change.

Once a RESTART changed it back to OK, but on close and restart no change.

Tried switching Wacom One tablet with trackpad,

no difference.

Any help her blessedly received.

MAC OS Sonoma 14.7

Photoshop CC 25.12.0

Apple MacBook Air 13 inch M2

Wacom One small Bluetooth

Do you have any apps that might modify the keyboard? I'd also try a safe boot to check. If this is a laptop, does the keyboard work properly during startup?

I am on the road far from home. No mouse with me.

Probably could find one neaby. Not sure.

BUT I have a small Wacom ONE Bluetooth / USB-c graphics tablet

that works very well, if you know what that is. It is a pen device

rather than a mouse device. I tried selecting tools with the wacom pen

but had same no result....also thge keyboard viewer. tap SPACE or any other

one time, keyboard minimizes to finder bar. Stop.

Capice?

The keyboard viewer is not hiding. It shows up on top

of all windows as it should.

Tap the spacebar with the mouse pointer and the keyboard viewer

immediately minimizes to its icon in the finder bar. No charecter,

space or entry is made.

@williamp86916270 try using an external mouse not the trackpad. Not sure why your keyboard viewer is hiding. By default its top level covering other windows:

it is not hiding. the icon is there, you can click it
and the keyboard opens. tap the spacebar
It does not make a space, it just minimizes back to the finder bar…
you can open it, and repeat. one tap. No character or space, keyboard
minimizes to its icon, having done nothing. Can only tap once.

Never had a probelm like this since signing on at OS 6.

Physical Space bar on keyboard works fine in most apps, tested.
Does not work at all or works very erratically in WhatsApp…
Finder keyboard viewer does not work in any document.

Usually this happens when your spacebar is stuck.

Actually, testing some more, the keyboard viewer, show the keyboard

pops up a keyboard but when i press the space bar with tarckpad the

keyboard goes away with no space made on a notes open doc...so the

viewer keyboard not working at all...though it did for a hot minute

in an open note when I first tried it, but only the one time....duh?

@williamp86916270 you say "tapped" - you need to click with the mouse on the virtual space bar not tap the key on the keyboard.

Of course, perfectly understood.

So; Yes. …

and no, the keyboard onscreen is a not working spacebar, nada. in any app, tested in several. text edit, notepad, email….

Tap the spacebar with the pointer and no characters will appear,

Tap spacebar, or tap a charecter, it just minimizes immediately back to
the finder bar…so the onscreen keyboard will enter zero
spaces or characters into any open app…

No. Not working. Followed settings tip, keyboard space key onscreen tapped

multiple times. Opened PS and tapped key also, nly allows one tap before itùgoes under open app, PS, allows multiple taps if

you have a notes page open, etc...but opened it and tapped

it a bunch with PS open, one time, recover, one more time etc...

was pretty hopeful but so far no. Thanks for doing. Best regards....

@williamp86916270 Go to Mac OS System Settings>Keyboard>Input Sources>Edit button.

Turn on "Show Input menu in menu bar". This will add a little keyboard icon in your menu bar by the clock.

Open the keyboard viewer.

Click (dont press the key) using your mouse the spacebar in the virtual keyboard a bunch of times.

Close the keyboard view.

Enjoy not having a stuck hand tool.

Mac OS has an input bug where it thinks the spacebar is stuck virtually (not physically).
