V27.10 shows my GPU meets requirements under “Help”. However when I preform some PS function that requires the GPU the screen goes black for a second or two. Such as resizing an image or cropping and image. I have dropped back to V27.9.1 which works ok.

Windows 11 current. Graphics driver current

Processor - AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D 16-Core Processor (4.20 GHz)

Graphics - AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX (24 GB), AMD Radeon(TM) Graphics (486 MB)

Storage - 10.40 TB of 21.83 TB used

I get that as well, but not just with Photoshop.  Just a brief black screen that quickly goes away.  I am using an RTX4080 with 591.86  I have just checked and it turns out that is a Game Ready driver and I must advise people at least once a week or so that the Studio driver works best with Photoshop.

I am not sure that I get any other issues, and don’t know if the driver is the cause of my blackouts, but I am going to change my driver right after I post this.(to 597.06)

Something similar is happening to me on Windows 11, Ryzen 9 9950X3D and RTX 5090.

What worked in my case, as quick workarounds:

    - Disabling "Use Graphics Processor" entirely, or
    - Enabling "Older GPU Mode (pre-2016)" with GPU acceleration on

Performance drops slightly, which is annoying. Hoping they fix this soon!

Hi @The Big Dog Skiier, Welcome to the Photoshop Community Forum! Is the screen to black disrupting the workflow? Or is it able to complete the task? In the meantime, can you try these steps and confirm what you see?

    1. Disable GPU Acceleration:

      • Navigate to Edit > Preferences > Performance (Windows) or Photoshop > Preferences > Performance (macOS).

      • Uncheck the option Use Graphics Processor.

      • Restart the software and check if the issue persists.

    2. Update Graphics Drivers: Even if you believe your drivers are up to date, it may help to check for updates manually.

    3. Resetting Photoshop Preferences: Meanwhile, you can try to reset the preferences of Photoshop using the steps mentioned here:  https://adobe.ly/4jmvs7u. Please back up your settings before resetting the preferences. You can check:  https://adobe.ly/3YW1WOu.

If none of these steps work for you, please send us your full System Info. You can find your system info by going to Help > System Info, copying and pasting it into a text file, and attaching it here. I hope this helps! ^CH
