Wrong shortcut on Generative fill layer

I have my document displayed on 100 %.

I make Generative Fill layer.

I want to see whole picture with Fit on Screen (Ctrl+0).

But shortcut doesnt always Fit on Screen, instead randomly opens up Smart Sharpen filter, which has Ctrl+F5 shortcut assigned).

Latest PS updated, Win 11.

    Hi @michaljanata,

Thank you for taking the time to file this report. To help us investigate further, a few questions:

    • Does this happen every time you generate, or intermittently? For example, does it occur on the very first generation in a fresh document, or only after multiple generations / undos / switching between layers?

    • Does the issue persist if you click once on the canvas (without selecting any tool or layer) before pressing Ctrl+0? This would help us determine whether focus remains incorrectly in the Generative Fill prompt/panel area after generation completes.

    • Have you customized any keyboard shortcuts via Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts? Specifically, could you check whether Smart Sharpen has any unexpected shortcut binding listed there?

    • Does the behavior change depending on the active layer? For instance, if you select a different layer (not Generative Fill) after generation and then press Ctrl+0, does it work correctly?

    • Are you using any third-party plugins or panels that might be active during this workflow?

    • Could you provide a short screen recording of the full workflow, starting from opening Photoshop and creating the document, all the way through generating the fill and pressing Ctrl+0 with the on-screen keyboard active? This would be extremely valuable for us to reproduce the issue on our end and log it formally with the engineering team.

    • Also, please copy & paste Photoshop system info (Help > system info) here.

    • Whether this happens in both a new blank document and an existing complex file

Looking forward to screen recording, it'll make a big difference in getting this tracked and resolved. Thank you!

hi @Anshul_Saini, I just probably have found a scenario which is causing that bahavior

it is every time I click on variations thumbnail on Properties panel… as soon as I click anywhere else, there is no problem

That's an excellent find, @michaljanata. Thank you for narrowing it down!

I tested the same workflow on macOS, but wasn’t able to reproduce the shortcut issue. Could you please check a few things on your Windows system?

    • Launch Photoshop while holding Shift and test with third-party/optional plugins disabled.
    • Go to Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts and temporarily use the Photoshop Defaults shortcut set, then test again.
    • If neither makes a difference, please check Preferences > Technology Previews and let me know whether Enable Modern User Interface is enabled or disabled.

Finally, please open the Windows On-Screen Keyboard and make a short screen recording showing the workflow: click a Generative Fill variation thumbnail, then press Ctrl+0 to capture Smart Sharpen opening.

Seeing the keys Photoshop receives when the issue occurs will be particularly useful. I can then share the reproduction with someone on my team with a Windows device to verify and then escalate it to the product team.

I was unable to reproduce this from the steps in your description. Can you give some more detail including : Photoshop version (not just ‘latest’), document size, bit depth, whether your generative fill layer covers the entire canvas or a selection.
