Adobe Premiere Pro 26.5.2 Severe Freezing Issues on MacBook Pro M4 Pro (24GB RAM)

I am experiencing severe freezing issues with Adobe Premiere Pro 26.5.2 on my MacBook Pro with an M4 Pro chip and 24 GB of RAM, running macOS Golden Gate 27.01. The application frequently freezes and becomes almost completely unresponsive.

Today, I downgraded to macOS Tahoe 26.7.1 and tested Adobe Premiere Pro 26.5.2 again, but the problem remains unchanged. Even when I simply move text around in a video project, make cuts, and press Play to preview the footage, Premiere Pro freezes.

This issue is seriously affecting my workflow and making video editing extremely difficult. I would appreciate it if your team could investigate this issue and provide a fix as soon as possible.

Thank you for your attention and support.

    私も全く同じ症状でした。(Macbook ProのM4Pro、OS26.7.1、PremierePro26.5.2)

    Hello @rozigoGG

Welcome to the Premiere Forums! Freezing issues can be very difficult to diagnose, so we may need a lot of specific information from you as we investigate. Some of the context below can be helpful.

    • Does it affect all projects or only some?
    • Does it affect new, empty projects?
    • When did the problem first begin? Was it when you upgraded to Golden Gate or where you on Golden Gate running 26.3.2 fine and then upgrading to 26.5.2 introduced the freeze?
    • Have you tried launching Premiere holding the Shift key and Clearing your Caches?
    • Is the freeze immediately upon launch or does it appear after editing for a while?
    • What Panels do you have open when you notice this behavior? (a screenshot of this could be helpful)

When Premiere is freezing, it could be helpful for us to have something called a Sample file. It will tell us what background processes Premiere is running that could be contributing to the freezing behavior. If you could follow the instructions below when you run into this issue, we would appreciate it.

    MAC sample file:

    1. Open Activity Monitor and identify the Premiere process (you can use search to filter for only Premiere)
    2. In Premiere, get it into the hanging/unresponsive state
    3. Switch back to Activity Monitor and right click on Premiere then choose > Create Sample
    4. Click Save, then save it as a text file somewhere.
    5. Then, you can DM me and either provide us the link/access to this file or I can send you a link to upload that file, whatever's easiest.

I will supply a private upload link for any material via DM on this community site. Let me know if you receive it.

    Hoping to help,

    Amy
